64/60 Sports Top 25

With apologies to the Maryland and Miami fan bases we here at the 64/60 are ready to unveil the Top 25 for Week 2 of the College Football season with Week 1's chapter not yet closed. Thursday's slate featured a primetime showcase of just how dangerous Wisconson could very well be this season and how I could easily have them to low in my rankings. Friday's matchup between Baylor and TCU was a instant classic for the final 10 minutes and was the best game of the Week 1 action. The weekends two most highly touted matchups disappointed as they so often do as Boise pushed around the Bulldogs of Georgia while LSU capitalized on turnovers and hundcuffed the Oregon offense for four quarters. On a side note for anyone who still thinks Boise can't compete with anyone in the country there is no use in attempting to convince you otherwise. Could this team run the table in the SEC? Likely not but please tell me how many teams can. The point is if this team was in the SEC it's biggest issues to this point, depth, would be a non-factor because their recruiting would be so much better. However let's not pencil them in to the National Championship Game just yet. Without a doubt they will be a favorite in every game from this point forward however the week to week grind of the Mountain West may prove more difficult than the WAC. Touching on the LSU throttling of Oregon. LSU's defense is really good however the offense will struggle at times and although they certainly played a viable opponent and won easily they weren't the most impressive team in Week 1. Let me also be the Notre Dame apologist. Much is being made about their lofty Preseason Ranking (16) and how once again it will be a long season in South Bend. Coming into the season I anticipated a improved campaign over last season and felt double digit wins and a BCS berth were realistic possibilites. They lost a 3 point game, albeit at home, to a team who could win the Big East. They had double the yards of South Florida and lost the TO margin 5-0 including three inside the opponents 5 yard line. Simply a minor hiccup in a long season and nothing a Win over rival Michigan in Primetime won't take care of. Most impressive team I saw during Week 1 was Texas A&M on Sunday Night. It could have been where I was solely devoted to that game but regardless holding a June Jones offense to 14 points in combination with being able to do whatever they wanted on offense at anytime was enough to sale me on there lofty Preseason Rank.
