Irene no match for NCAA when it comes to Coral Gables

As the east coast bares down and gets ready to bunker down in preparation of Hurricane Irene. New York City has called for evacuations in it's 5 Burroughs. First time in over 100 years that has happened.
The Mets, Orioles, Phillies, and Giants and Jets are all looking to postponing their schedule games, or changing the games start times. The PGA Tour has shortened an event to 54 holes. Boston is going to load up and play a double header instead of two single games. It chaos in the world as the east coast gears up for certain apocalyptic disaster, just days removed from an earthquake.
The storm moved past Florida earlier in the weekend, but Coral Gables is still on damage control.
The Miami Hurricanes took preventive measures and announced that they would indeed suspend 8 players while the NCAA investigates. Those 8 players are not scrubs. They are the very core of the 'U'. The defensive cog, and the starting quarter back to be precise, are among those 8 who are being punished for their parts in the scandal which was blown open in the media earlier this month.
The players will still be allowed to practice during this suspension, and a formal appeal has been filed on behalf of the players, which is normal procedure for these kind of matters, assured Al Golden, head coach.
Miami is undoubtedly hoping that by showing that they are attempting to police the program, which is under new leadership both on the sidelines and in the AD office, that the NCAA may not give them the SMU treatment.
For the 'U', they better keep their batons out and be ready to use them, and show a little bit more police brutality if they want to keep the NCAA dogs at bay.
But let's face it, the NCAA is out of touch and has lost control over college football. They may believe they have to make an example of a high profile program to restore order. Miami seemingly fits that bill.
