In-N-Out The 64/60 Baseball Week 20

What a week it was within the 64/60. The 64/60 Football Lethal Lottery was held late Friday Night. YouTube history was made later that evening as some of the participants conducted post lottery interviews that could very well make the 64/60 a household name. For the record the 64/60 Football League is up and a invite has been sent to everyone. As always if additional communications are needed please let me know. A couple of changes to the league that everyone should take note of. Dave Hobson's favorite position, Kickers, will now have negative points against them in the event they shank one. So no longer did that missed 25 yarder rob you out of 3 points but he takes three additional points away for sucking. For years Hobson has tried to sale me on the greatness of Kickers and time and time again I have ignored his plea. No longer. Now those 90% have much more value than those 75% Kickers which could prompt the Colonels to nab one up in Round 1 and potentially another on the wrap around. No thanks needed Dave. Secondly and perhaps the most groundbreaking. Due to the overwhelming enjoyment the Two C format brings to Baseball the 64/60 Board, which consist of me, approved a Two QB league for next season. That's right each and every week two QB's will be in your active lineup which should certainly effect the look of the draft board. Finally the rosters have been expanded from 15 player teams to 20 which will finally meet the demands of every owner in the league who have begged for longer drafts year in and year out. Once again your Commissioner has took the 64/60 to greener pastures and as always no thanks is necessary.

On the baseball side of the 64/60 the season has all but officially ended for the Komodo Dogs and Hendo Colonels. At 11.5 and 14.5 games back from the 6th spot respectively it would take 30 category stretch for either team to sneak in and neither team have shown any signs they have what it takes. Therefore with three games left on the schedule the six playoff spots will be a battle between seven teams. Pencil in the BCFP, Stars, and Walls for three of these as they will battle it out for the top spot and $100 as well as the top two spots and a first round bye in the playoffs. Though their position isn't as secure the Lads and 9irons should be feeling pretty good with a 8 game lead with three to play. The mission is simple avoid a devastating loss play .500 ball and everything should be fine. That leaves us with the Militia and Deathsquad battling it out for the final spot. The Power Rankings prefer the Deathsquad but throughout the season the Militia have been the more consistent team. In a script that could only be written in Hollywood the Militia and Tom Emanski's Deathsquad square off in the final week of the season. With three games left here is the schedule for the playoff contenders down the stretch.

BCFP: Majesticals, Walls Of Jericho, M.R.O.T.A.
Stars: Komodo Dog, Colonels, tbd
Walls: M.R.O.T.A., BCFP, Lads
Lads: Militia, Majesticals, Walls
9irons: tbd, Militia, Majesticals
Militia: Lads, 9irons, Emanski
Emanski: Colonels, tbd, Militia

Season Recap

Komodo Dog

What Went Right- After the 5 C draft the Dogs were behind the 8-Ball but battled back to be a much better team than I envisioned early on. Gonzalez and Fielder put MVP type totals up this season while the Top Half of the rotation of Shields, Gallardo, Price and Lester is about as good as you can ask for.

What Went Wrong- Could have really used Ichiro being the .320 hitter you come to expect. The biggest problem with this group was the collection of MI types occupying three spots in your lineup with no good option to speak of. Back end of the rotation with about three spots that were a swinging door all season long.

Hendo Colonels

What Went Right- Roy Halladay and Felix Hernandez could have been the best 1-2 punch in the league. With the lack of offensive prowess and a ineffective pitching staff for the most part this is easily Dave Hobson's finest managerial job regardless of sport in his 64/60 career for keeping this team in it this long.

What Went Wrong- You lose your top offensive player about three weeks or so into the season. Draft strategy was to dominate pitching yet this group is only about middle of the pack at best in most stats. Offense is lead by Ben Zobrist and his .281/15/80/68/14/.864 respectable totals but now what you want from your feature stick.

Game Recaps

BCFP 7 vs. Militia 4. After a week that featured a "Likely" comment each and every time any of my players did anything it was nice to get victory over the Militia. Although Ev is still in denial (see post below), we do play in a 6X6 league and not a one of the categories are Butch's opinion thankfully for me. I can understand being bitter, putting so much into one game only to see it slip away, but to sit their and type a 200 word essay on how you actually won the contest is easily the low point in your 2011 season. Is my pitching staff a 2.20ish ERA? No. But it has been the best in the league all season. Is your lineup a .300+ Unit? No. But it has been the worst in the league all season. And I was the fortunate one? Ev keep your head up, keep your eyes on the prize and clinch this playoff spot which you have worked so hard for don't let this setback derail the 2011 season.

M.R.O.T.A. 7 vs. Stars 5. The Stars are suffering from a BCFP victory hangover still yet. After the big win three weeks ago the Stars have yet to win a game and are in danger of allowing the Walls Of Jericho to nab a first round bye. McClung you need to clear your mind of the horrible Wiffle Ball performance and quit looking at Football Preview Magazines and recommit yourself to the 2011 baseball season. Beating me in Week whatever will mean nothing if your ousted by the 6th seed in the first round of the playoffs.

Lads 8 vs. tbd 4. The Lads easily handle a team they should this time of year. The real question is how's the ankle big fella. It's been three weeks since you hobbles off into the wee morning hours and outside of a brief phone conversation regarding a certain Status I have heard nothing. The 64/60 Football Draft is next week does Randy need to come down and put a ramp up the front stairs or what?

Walls 10 vs. Majesticals 2. Nothing like a easy win and gaining ground on those you are chasing. The Walls took full advantage of the 6-0 head start given by the Majesticals. This week it's the Factory's turn.

9irons 9 vs. Colonels 3. Some people have it all. The 9irons spent the week at the beach and in every restaurant Myrtle Beach had to offer. He played golf and took early morning strolls down the beach with that special someone. The win over the Colonels is simply the cherry on top of the sundae.

Emanski 10 vs. Dog 2. Should the Deathsquad sneak into the playoffs this win will be circled on the schedule as the day the season changed. The pitching is as good as the league has to offer and the hitting is good enough to find the playoffs. The Power Rankings have adored Emanski's kids all season but luck hasn't seen it that way. Could this be the start of something different?

Head Scratcher Of The Week

Walls Of Jericho drop Geovany Soto. Nothing Soto has done at this point warrants him a NO DROP status but with that said he will end the season with 15-20 HR's with a OPS near .750 both respectable totals from the C position. Soto also will get 5-6 games per week which is more than can be said for Doumit who's limited AB's minimize the plus AVG and OPS totals.

Pick Up Of The Week

Brandon Belt- The Militia. Truth be told I was once again going to go with Josh Willingham but he has become the 64/60's version of the Midnight Special at the end of the bar over at Timbo's that everyone in the room has had their fun with. What I have said all season in the portion of the post is it's all about upside. I'm not a Belt guy, I have seen enough from the first two call ups to suggest his promise won't be fulfilled this season. Regardless given the choice between the unknown and the proven marginal at best options that fill the Waiver Wire I'll take my chances that Belt has figured it out because I know all those marginal options will still be their should Belt fail.
