In-N-Out The 64/60 Week 13

A week ago today the pot was shaken in both the 64/60 and the 41129 area code. The dreams of another 64/60 Swing and Swim had become a reality as it was announced that the 2011 version would be held on July the 23rd. Women cried and children screamed unable to keep their happiness in check. It appears that Jesse Ward will be in town for the event as well as Dave Hobson and a Special Guest. No word yet on whom this may be but since I'm a betting man Scooter Beep Beep is at 1:2 Odds while Big Pat is at 5:1. Either way it's a win win for the 64/60. It appears one of the elderstatseman of the 64/60, Mike McClung, will dust off the 1970 model bannana bat with forty year old electrical tape and wrap up the old knee with a Ace Bandage and give one more go of it. GRC3 is wishy washy at this point but I've got a feeling as the date inches closer his loyalties will be where they need to be, which will likely lead GRC3 to work and once again piss on the 64/60. Keep the commitments coming as we hope to roll with the four man team tournament this season.

I want Jose Bautista. I have made countless attempts to obtain Jose Bautista from the B'Ville Stars. I have did the classic two for one deal featuring Adrian Beltre and fill in the blank pitcher. McClung has declined each and everyone and rightfully so I may add. I have pulled a Dumpster Collectors trade which is a Chris Lee staple. Offer four to five end of the roster players for one or two players and reason that the sum of the five players you are given is greater or equal to the players you are receiving. Once again the Stars did not budge. On Tuesday I worked out a three for one deal that included me giving up Carlos Quentin, Jordan Zimmerman, and Carlos Marmol for one Jose Bautista. Before submitting the offer I felt I was giving up to much in the deal and parting with to much depth. Just to see how McClung felt I texted him the deal to see if he would be interested he replied he couldn't just give Bautista away. My thoughts were McClung would be getting a 30+ HR player in Quentin, a Top 30 starter or better in Zimmerman, and a much needed closer to bring the Stars to two on the roster. Isn't this more than enough to acquire one albeit great player? Your thoughts and feedback would be appreciated.

Bear Creek FP Factory 8 vs. Argumentative 9irons 3

Much like last week I'm left to ponder, if a supposed rivalry is a one-sided affair, is it really a rivalry? I know GRC3 wants it to be but as my loving wife tells me on a daily basis, "Wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which one feels up faster.". It wasn't a good week for the Factory at the plate but the excellent pitching more than made up for it. The win marks 4 in a row for the Factory and ends the 9irons 1 game winning streak. GRC3 keep your head up no shame in losing to a player such as I.

BC Ragin Canseco's 11 vs. Vondies 1

Way to bounce back Bopp. Sure you would have loved to show up last week in the battle of heavyweights but let's face it its not the first time you have fallen a little short after so much build up. Don't worry buddy I've been there to. It certainly wasn't a cake walk for the Canseco's who had to produce respectable offensive stats across the board, outside of a .244 AVG, to earn the sweep. It wasn't as impressive on the pitching front as neither team posted a ERA below 4 but the Canseco's were just a little bit better. The lone Vondies win came in SV with a narrow 5 to 4 edge. No doubt the Bopp was smiling from ear to ear as the sun beamed down on the sparkling water poolside at the Lee household on Sunday, celebrating his bounceback victory and counting the weeks untill he once again faces his mentor.

Walls Of Jericho 10 vs. Tom Emanski's Deathsquad 2

There are good weeks and there are the Walls week 13. 67 RBI 25 HR, you kidding me and perhaps the oddest thing about the Walls was the balance of HR's throughout the lineup. Sure having two 4HR players and 3HR players helps but the Walls didn't have the 5 or 6 HR player, instead 13 of 15 players in the lineup chipped in at least 1. It wasn't just the offense for the Walls who despite a 4.22 ERA on the week did manage 74 K's with a 10.41K/9 and 7 SV. Perhaps last weeks mocking of name choice by yours truly sparked the fire to a team I expected to be a contender on draft night. In defense of the Deathsquad, his week deserved better as his offensive totals would have bested everyone else in the league. But as many bitter losers in Head to Head leagues from Coast To Coast have said, "It is merely a Weekly League that favors luck over skill." Oddly enough these same owners can be found at the local tavern reciting their weekly triumphs while chatting up the ladies.

Barboursville Stars 11 vs. Majesticals 1

If you ever find yourself without internet access and need instant up to date standing information please contact McClung. Each week the B'Ville Stars creep closer and closer to the BCFP Factory and at some point during the week he overtakes me in the standings. This achievement is followed by a text questioning if I have seen the updated standings. Each time I reply, wait till Sunday. When the dust has settled I once again find myself in the top spot yet I never get a text with the revised standings. They must have gotten lost in the cellualar mail along with the quality trade offers sent for Jose Bautista that must go unnoticed. Nothing Majestic about the Majesticals performance this week outside of the complete greasefire Week 13 turned out to be. It's not often one team can produce the worst offensive week or perhaps the season as well as a pitching performance featuring a 6.04 ERA with 2, countem 2, QS for the week and a mere 34 K's.

LeMaestro's Militia 12 vs. Komodo Dog 0

RESPECT and VALIDATION is all Butch Lemaster wants. Think about it, have you ever been at a bar with Ev while he is talking up some long-legged blonde, the conversation is stopped every two to three minutes for a brief request of verification of the story he is reprising, from any peer around. His fantasy game is no different. It's not about league titles or the cash it's about his peers thinking that the Les Miles of the 64/60 has it all figured out and is more than the loose cannon that appears on draft night. 12-0 Wins and playoff contention give you no other option than to respect. Butch boasted that not in the history of the 64/60 has a 12-0 Win occured, I quickly axed the idea thinking it happens several times in a season. Upon research by the 64/60 Research Dept. since the 64/60 expanded to 12stats in 2009 this marks the 3rd time a 12-0 win has occoured. The BCFP handed DT's Brawlers a loss in 09 a few weeks later the Fightin Zabkas dished out Crane Kick after Crane Kick on his way to a 12-0 victory over Hutch's Hitters. Congratulations Todd you have joined David Thomas and Jim Hutchinson in the 64/60 Record Books.

Hendo Colonels 10 vs. tbd 2

How quickly the tide can turn in the 64/60. tbd was the little engine that could in the early going of the season. Despite less than stellar statistics tbd just found ways to win. tbd was a high as third in the standings just a little over a month ago but a 14-43 mark with 5 straight losses have the tbd fighting of the Majesticals for 11th place in the league. The Colonels are a classic example of how quickly it can turn for the good. After scuffling along and losing 5 of 7 the Colonels found themselves in Majestical territory now after one big win they are a mere 7 games from a playoff spot. Do either of these owners have the interest to battle week in and week out, to make the necessary roster moves, to do the extra research to find the next great Free Agent addition or complete a lopsided trade. My best guess is no but if you ever wonder why I choose a Head to Head format as opposed to a standard Roto format for this version of the 64/60 this is exactly it. Two owners who have below average seasons are still considered to be contenders at the All Star Break.

Pickup Of The Week

BC Ragin Canseco's drop Jonathan Broxton for David Hernandez. Who knows if and when Broxton will return to the closers role for the Dodgers without closers status Broxton isn't worth having in a 12-Team Mixed League. Hernandez provides you with a short term closer, in the abscence of Putz, and could insert himself permanently should Putz's recent struggles continue upon his return.

Head Scratcher Of The Week

Majesticals drop Jason Bartlett for Corey Patterson. I have no idea what Bartlett has done this season (.239/1/31/21/16/.604) without looking it up, but being that he has been tossed around like a boozed up chick on prom night from roster to roster it hasn't been pretty. This is another case in which I don't have a problem with whom was dropped but rather who was picked up. With the recent promotion of Travis Snider, Patterson is now the 5th OF on the depth chart and though he does have some pop his value is in his legs. So after all the adding and dropping the Majesticals dropped a 240ish hitter with speed who plays everday for another .240ish hitter with speed who will maybe see three games a week if he's lucky.

One bad week and the Majesticals are on the shit list.

Blasphemy, in my honest opinion.

Considering The National have said that they will shut Zimmerman down after 6-8 more starts, I would call that a pretty shitty deal. Bautista is this years Pujols, and you don't trade that away unless your getting the other teams best player and then some.

Additionally, Marmol (top tier closer or not) is still a closer. In the past week, I've picked up a current closer and potential closer off the waiver wire. There available if you dig enough, giving up your best player to get one is not necessary. So essentially your deal is Quentin for Bautista............Solid deal if you don't like winning 64/60 championships. You want to call me out for shady deals that all were approved by the league office (YOU) and then flaunt this deal in your post like the Stars should thank you for offering such a sweetheart of a deal.........MOTHAFUCKA PLEASE!!!

great read as always.

i agree. the deal is quentin for bautista. lopsided to say the least.

dont think marmol is gonna be the reason someone wins or loses the championship this year.

rough week. glad to be in the record books for something. even tho it is for the worst loss possible.

Bopp I appreciate your passion but sympathize with your ignorance. Head-To-Head Leagues are about depth. In a roto league a 50HR season is just that in a Head-To Head league it could mean 5 weeks of 5HR and 15 with 1. The more viable options on your roster the less likely the chance of a team wide drought during a week. I'm not a Nats Insider such as you but even if Zimmerman only makes 8 more starts that would be 25 on the season and who's to say they wouldn't skip starts down the stretch as opposed to sitting him for the final month. Yes you could pick up a Closer at some point down the stretch but Mike couldn't he isn't as technologically advanced as you so he doesn't have a App for that nor does he embrace the internet so by the time the newspapers say that so and so will serve as closer you have already picked them up. Secondly the type of closer he would have to choose from would be a temp fix or on a short leash. It's Marmol's gig for better or for worse. Finally Quentin isn't Bautista but he isnt a slouch a likely 30+ HR guy with 90RBI potential. Three viable players for one superstar isn't a bad move at least in the first place teams opinion.

WOW!!!! That's wonderful news. I was afraid you might reject my offer of K. Farnsworth (a secure closer), E. Bedard ( a quality pitcher who could make at least 8 more starts), and M. Reynolds ( 30 HR potential) for Ryan Braun.

I'll send the offer ASAP.

In case your hesitant about my trade proposal.........Just think of the depth you'll have.

Given my current roster I would not make that move however under different circumstances I may consider it. Like my proposed deal it isn't a lopsided deal. For the record if I were McClung I wouldn't have made the deal either, my point was that it wasn't a bad deal.

no way you take farnsworth, bedard, and reynolds for braun.
