Spreadology 2010

It was recommended a few weeks ago that the 64/60 shut down the Spreadology Department. I laughed at the notion. I referenced my first two months of picking game after game correctly. Sure I was in a slump but I used the run to start the season as my crutch. After last week perhaps the Spreadology Department could be in jeopardy if the 64/60 must do some budget cuts. Until that time comes I must continue to attempt to right this ship. Though the season record is now below the .500 mark at 34-36 we still have four more weeks on NFL regular season, three weeks of playoffs, the Super Bowl and of course the College Football Bowl Season. Therfore we still have the time and opportunity to put some fat cash in that wallet just before the old jolly fat guy comes down the chimmney.

Oregon vs. Oregon State +16.5. Huge Mike Riley fan and Corvallis has been a stumbling block to the Ducks in recent past however to much Duck for the Beavers to
handle this time around. No team in the country is better in the second half than Oregon this will hold true once again. PICK: Oregon -16.5

Auburn vs. South Carolina +5. Cam Newton greatest college football player ever? I'm not necessarily buying what other contributors to this site have suggested but without a doubt Newton will win the Heisman and is the reason Auburn has been perfect. Early in the season the Gamecocks made the Tigers pull off another late game comeback to avoid a setback and that contest was in Auburn. The SEC Championship game has been a stumbling block for others who were in Auburns position. The Tigers may avoid the upset but the points are hard to pass up. PICK: South Carolina +5.

Washington vs. Washington State -6. In this Apple Cup contest the overblown hype machine Jake Locker needs a win to become bowl eligible while the Cougars need a win to become less pathetic. I'll take the hungrier team. PICK: Washington -6.

Florida State vs. Virginia Tech -4. From a talent standpoint FSU should handle this contest but it has been so long since FSU has come up big in a big spot. Beamer ball may not always be pretty but it usually is consistent and after a slow start to 2010 the Hokies have been amongst the countries best. PICK: Virginia Tech -4.

Nebraska vs. Oklahoma -4.5. The Big 12 title game and Bob Stoops usually means a win for Oklahoma however this season the young Sooners have really struggled outside of the state of Oklahoma. Nebraska on the other hand has had struggles of their own on the offensive side of the ball when facing some stiffer competition. Colt McCoy stole this game from the Cornhuskers last season and in their final Big 12 Season the Cornhuskers will go out with the title. PICK: Nebraska +4.5.

Redskins vs. Giants -7. Big number to be giving out for a divisional rivalry game but the Redskins could have the least amount of offensive talent in the NFL. If the Giants can avoid the 3 turnover game this one will be over come the fourth quarter. PICK: Giants -7.

Bills vs. Vikings -5.5. It seems as though I have selected the Vikings each and every week so why stop now. Even though the Vikings won last week they were still anything but impressive on offense. On the other hand the Bills continue to impress week after week but the results have still been the same. With the lack of a Vikings pass rush the Bills could have their way offensively but look for Favre/Peterson and Co. to match score for score. PICK: Vikings -5.5

Raiders vs. Chargers -13. Two teams heading in opposite directions. Three weeks ago the Raiders were the divisional leaders while the Chargers were still waiting to find their grove. Now the Chargers appear to be amongst the AFC's best while the Raiders have struggles on both sides of the football. I liked the Raiders to challenge the Chargers to begin the season and I'm not about to come of it now. Raiders get the ground game going this week and manage to keep this game a contest down to the final minutes. A late FG will win it for someone but at +13 your a winner long before then. PICK Raiders +13.

Falcons vs. Bucs +3. In terms of record the Bucs are a good story. The young team have instantly become playoff contenders earlier than expected under the leadership of Josh Freeman. However they have feasted off the weak parts of their schedule and have yet to even make it respectable amongst the NFL's best, outside of Baltimore last week. From a emotional standpoint I can see a letdown from the Falcons, big win last week at home over Packers, on the road against a team you own. However I just get to much in return for the three points I'm laying. Expect the Bucs to keep in interesting until the third quarter then the Falcons overall talent advantage will shine through. PICK Falcons -3.

Steelers vs. Ravens -3. The Ravens won at Pittsburgh earlier in the season prior to Big Ben's return. As I have stated previously, as foolish as it sounds I happen to think the Steelers are a better team without The Predator. In another tough physical matchup Flacco and Co. make a handful of more plays down the stretch and win by double digits. PICK: Ravens -3.

Jets vs. Patriots -3.5. The game of the week which could have home field advantage throughout the playoffs on the line. The Patriots have looked very good since the Browns debacle and Brady could be the league MVP up to this point. The Jets have lived up to their own Super Bowl or Bust expecatations so far and Mark Sanchez in my opinion has joined the NFL's elite QB's. Anytime I feel a game could go either way I'll take the points and the value it brings. This game could go either way and since I see this contest as a FG game I love that additional .5. PICK: Jets +3.5.

Virginia Tech has played their best football after two early loses, they have gotten better with each game, almost like they were hitting their prime before a playoff ... but there isn't one.. They get to go to a meaningless bowl game like 54 other schools...
And Rich said Killa' Cam was the best he had seen, so that would constitute as another contributor to the blog, not others...
It's this dangerous lumping together of facts to fit your agenda that worries me Burt... It's very right-wing Mcarthyism.... just like the BCS.

To bad for Virginia Tech that they failed to play their best football during the first two weeks of the season as Oregon, Auburn and TCU if they had they would have reason to bitch about the injustice of the BCS.

Watch the last 5 minutes of any game when the Jets need a big score. Sanchez has been money up to this point.

He has had a good year. Im not ready to mention him with the bradys rodgers and mannings of the league. Maybe with the flaccos and the cassells.

Joey Pierce, a friend of mine, refers to the New Endland Patriots as the paits, not the pats. It just kinda stuck with me.

The letter after Y in the alphabet corrisponding button on my keyboard doesnt work. My girlfriend spilled wine on it. That is also why I spell Gonsaga worng.
