While we are on the moronic thought pattern that is is the NCAA....
5 Ohio State players were suspended for 5 games, at the start of the next season for selling their possessions, which include these gold pants. Not Michael Jackson gold pants, but nothing more than basically a Pandora charm.
The gold pants are awarded to Buckeyes if they defeat Michigan in the rivalry game. Now, such charms have been sold before, most notably on eBay by former Buckeye Maurice Clarrett.
What made this an infraction was that it violated the NCAA's rules on making a profit by student athletes.
Now, while it may be bullshit that the school and NCAA can make a billion dollars off these kids and they can't even work bagging groceries during the week, rules are rules, right NCAA?(Josh Shelby, Cam and Cecil)
Tyrelle Pryor leads the gang of self-prospering youngsters who decided to sale the charms for a lil' extra dough. They got caught and the NCAA suspended them, but not until next season, which will not affect the Bowl game, they can all still play in that(moronic) and most likely Pryor and those guilty of this will leave school for the NFL and thus not face any punishment at all.
The reason for the delayed, and by delayed I mean GOLDEN opportunity for OSU?
Newton's Law, which as stated by the NCAA means that these kids did not know about wrongdoing, and that the school had not given them a proper course on what procedure and policy was pertaining to this issue of selling gold pants.
What?
The more judgements the NCAA makes, the more horseshit not letting Enes Free becomes clear.
Folks, like Kentucky or not, they are getting screwed with all of this.
I don't really think that the Buckeyes did anything wrong, trying to pawn off unwanted jewelry, and with those damn cash for gold commercials on every channel, well the temptation must have been unbearable. But, according to the rules, it was wrong. And according to those rules, because they didn't know enough about what they were doing, they weren't punished all that much.
Just like because Cam didn't know what dad was doing on the phone, Cam is not to blame.
The NCAA is the biggest scam and farce in the college sports world. If anything needs to be put on probation it is the NCAA.
Folks, read up on Mark May. The ESPN analyst knows the score. He has been vocal on the, in 6460 language, retarded methods and reasoning behind the NCAA's rulings and interpretation of their own rules.
And, a fact that was pointed out and can't be over-looked here, is that a school as large as Ohio State, with arguably the most expensive and funded athletic program in the country, would not cover it's bases on ALL matters pertaining to it's ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT? Is that really what the NCAA is trying to sell here?
I could understand if that was the logic behind such a ruling if it involved somebody like David Lipscomb University... But Ohio State? Please.
Hey, dirty, baby I got your money.
