Vikings, Vick, Vince, Votto/Hamilton, Victor, and Terry Collins

*Vick-

The following question was posed over the beer fueled weekend, "Is Mike Vick the NFL MVP?" To this point in the season, I would say he is. The stat that stands out to me about Vick's resurgent 2010 is the 1 turnover. He lost a fumble last week and until that he was without a turnover. Not turning the ball over is the first ingredient in winning football and the Eagles are division leaders. The biggest stride that Vick has made in his 2nd chance at NFL stardom is his pocket presence and ability to check down. Never before have we seen Vick stand in the pocket and progress through his recievers before taking off for the scramble. If the pocket passing increases to improve Vick could be doing this for years to come.

Having said all that, Vick worries me in the playoffs. It seems that the Eagles will be there late in December and early January, but will Vick be as efficiently dominate? I wouldn't bet the farm on him come playoff time.

*Vikings-

Brad Childress was let go from the Vikings and Frasier will take over. I have never liked Childress, and am often confused by the playcalls. The thing I do not understand is why fire him now, when the playoffs seem impossible, and not 2 weeks ago, when the playoffs were within reason? NFL owners supposedly like to address coaching after the season and not during it, which I understand, but I don't understand waiting until the season is pointless and then fire him. It puts Frasier in a position where success seems very unlikely. The Cowboys had the same type of situation and addressed it 2 weeks ago, followed by 2 wins.

*Vince Young-

The Texans are looking smarter and smarter for passing on Bush, Young, and Leinart. Taking Mario williams was kinda shocking to me at the time, but I would rather have him then any of the borderline busts that I mentioned above. The latest Vince being Vince moment seems to be his last under Jeff Fisher. Throwing your sholder pads into the stands isn't connecting with the fans, its a temper tantrum.

Does Young start for another franchise? It seems likely, but if I were a fan of a pro football team, I wouldn't want him. His style was dominate in college, in the pros it is sloppy and you can't trust it. Trust is big in the NFL. Can any team trust Vince Young? Personally, I dont think so.

*Votto/Hamilton-

Both were named MVP of thier respective league. They both deserved it. I'm a fan of both i reckon. Man, if I were a Reds fan I would feel pukey for the Hamilton for Edinson trade now. Could you imagine a lineup with Votto in the 3 hole with Hamilton cleaning up after him? I bet most Reds fans can imagine that very easily.

The cool part with Votto winning is the fact they sited his league leading Ops as the reason why he was selected, not the traditional avg/hr/rbi stat line. In which Votto lead the league in none of them. saber stats like whip and vorp were the reasons sited for the selection of King Felix as the Cy Young this year. He had a ugly w-l record and never would have won the award 10 years ago. Ditto Votto.

*Victor

Heading to Detriot to become a Tiger. The value with Victor is his ability to play catcher and still hit with above average results. However, with his advancing age, how long can victor set behind the plate and continue to not throw runners out? I see him playing more and more 1st base which declines his value. I am glad he is not a Cub, put it that way.

*Terry Collins

who?

The new manager of the Mets.

Biggest win in his managing career?

Managed China to a wbc title in 2009.

would still rather have him then quade.
