Things are getting WACky....

Ok, Texas-San Antonio decides they want to take a stab at running a football program. They slate s debut for 2012, after several pleads to not go this route by John Cusack. UTSA goes the route that Georgia State went when they started their program and hire a coach who has some name recognition and past success. Georgia state goes the FCS route to get their feet under themselves. UTSA hires Larry Coker, the former head coach and zoo keeper at the U, after Shawn Michaels turned the job down when he was told that Marty Jannetty could not be brought on as special teams coach. UTSA then decides that the hell with anything that makes sense, they hired Coker and damn it they are going D1....Watch out BCS. And the WAC, on the verge of losing Boise State, Fresno State, and Nevada in the next two years, pulls off the coup of the century by adding UTSA and FCA(1AA) Texas State (Popki, send it in!) to bolster their stellar conference line up and to stay ahead of the SEC as the nations premier conference in football.
What they have done is turn Hawaii into a dominant force who will carry the flag of 'We went undefeated playing sub-par teams where is our BCS Championship?' that was popularized by soon to be ex-conference mate, Boise State.
I understand the desire to do this on the WAC's part. They needed to add programs to keep from going under. They didn't want to be swallowed up and divided up among the Sunbelt and Conference USA. They wanted to stay alive. But, they didn't exactly hit a home-run. Surely, they could have swayed SOMEONE better to their conference than just those schools. Oh, wait a damn minute, Montana, a FCS Power-fuckin'-house is entertaining an offer to join too. Shit, telling players and schools that every two years you get to take a trip to Hawaii should be flaunted more by the conference when selling it's self. Well, shit... Hawaii is toying with the notion of going Independent, ala BYU... Looks like Notre Dame will have some other schools who love their freedom and never to get to a major BCS game just like them.
There has to be a better way... I know that the Super-Conferences are coming...16 teams... but the little guys are going to have to ban together... maybe some consolodations are in order, maybe getting the TOP FCS schools to step up are in order. Or maybe just leave it alone, accept their role, their lot in BCS life. It would seem to the common-man that perhaps there are already an ample amount of BCS programs, we don't need anymore, and if some of this lil' piss-ant schools are going to push the issue and attempt to keep complaining about the BCS system and try their damnedest to force a (poor business plan/less money making/ and still flawed) playoff. If those lil' guys are so upset with not getting their fair shake at things and want a playoff(which they wouldn't make it into anyways) well, they are in luck... such a land with golden streets does exist! No falling houses are needed to get there either...It's called the FCS....pack your bags now, and you may make it in time for the playoffs to start. Just remember where that money for that new telescope in your science lab came from...
