The Football Weekend From The Best Seat In The House

* The loss by Alabama should ensure that a undefeated Non-BCS school will find themselves in the title game should they run the table and either Auburn or Oregon fall. The question is who will it be? TCU was certainly impressive on Saturday but let's not make that the deciding factor. Their was a reason Boise was ranked ahead of them coming into the year and what have the Broncos not done to make you think otherwise. TCU will have a slight edge in the BCS coming into this week but keep in mind the Broncos still have a good Nevada team and a good Fresno State squad on the schedule. Also keep in mind that the Broncos will play every week as the season winds down while TCU only has two weeks remaining. Out of sight out of mind as they say. Also don't let Virginia Tech's loss to James Madison fool you. If they can continue to win by seasons end they will be among the Top 15 in the BCS formula which will only strengthen Boise States resume.

* How about the Mad Hatter. Who else in the country would call a WR reverse on 4th an 1 after passing on a FG chance for one of the countries best. For all his faults and trust me his fourth quarter clock management leaves little to be desired, Miles has this charm about him where everything seems to go his way.

* The preseason script of the Big 12 has been flipped upside down it would seem. Nebraska has lived up to potential to this point however Texas is just awful while Oklahoma isn't that much better. Oklahoma State was picked by many to finish last in their division and currently are in the drivers seat for the Big 12 title game. Oklahoma is young and makes to many mistakes to beat good teams on the road also it's hard to imagine a Oklahoma team can have three different occasions during the game of 4th and Goal from the 1 and fail to punch it any on all three occasions. It's about as shocking as the University of Texas not being able to run the football with any success. It's one thing to not generate against a quality D but Kansas State doesn't fit that description. Texas's struggles this season speaks volumes as to how important Colt McCoy was to the Texas Football program.

* For as much deserving crap the Big East takes the ACC also isn't worthy of BCS considerations this season. Make no mistake the ACC looks like the SEC in comparison to the East but only Virginia Tech is a legit Top 25 team and even they lost to FCS own James Madison at home. North Carolina, Miami, Florida State, NC State are among the schools that are at the cusp of a Top 25 ranking but not a one have had a impressive win out of conference. It's to bad the Bowl's have a Conference agreement. I would love to see a Virginia Tech vs. Pitt game for conference bragging rights. It is often asked what would Boise States/TCU records be if they played in a major conference? Perhaps the real question should be what would Virginia Tech/Pitt's record be if they played in the Wac or the Mountain West?

* The Heisman Trophy race is a three man sprint at this point. Cam Newton, LaMichael James and Kellen Moore. Newton is certainly the front runner but a ugly game against the Tide or Georgia could end all momentum. I look for Moore to bring it home. I don't see any other team in the country having more attention paid to them over this final month than Boise. Many of the eyeballs tuned in will be Heisman voters.

* I continue to be amazed by the terrible play of the Minnesota Vikings. Sure they escaped with a win but for about 55 minutes on Sunday they seemed to play uninspired football. I don't know if the problem is all the off field drama or they hate Childress so much they have just thrown in the towel. For the life of me can you explain why Adrian Peterson is off the field so often on 3rd down and for long stretches at anytime. He is among the Top 5 playmakers in the NFL and it's not exactly like Gerhart is a Sproles type threat on 3rd down. ATTENTION Childress the position of 3rd down back isn't mandatory, it's a coaches option.

* I don't know if the Bills and Panthers play this season if my calculations are correct I would have to say no but I can say with plenty of confidence they are the two worst teams in football. To the Bills credit they have played some quality football over the last month but just haven't broke the win barrier. For the Panthers it's one route after another and has gotten progressively worse as the season moves on. Same troubles for both squads. Neither have that go to QB. Sure Fitzpatrick has been good at times but is anyone buying him as a player who can lead a team to double digit wins year after year? Neither team has a playmaker on the offensive side of the ball. DeAngelo Williams has been terrible and it's looking as though the tread on the tire is showing the mileage. I believe the Bills are currently playing better but given the tough AFC East and AFC opponents in general I look for the Panthers to have more wins at season end. Let the Andrew Luck countdown begin in Buffalo/Canada and wherever else this barnstorming NFL club goes next year.

* It was good to see a classic AFC West showdown like the Raiders and Chiefs once again mean something. Growing up in the late 80's and the 90's year after year these clubs were threats to make deep playoff runs and both teams fielded winners year after year. This rivalry seemed to always be the primary game either on Sunday at 4 or often times on Monday Night. I can remember Joe Montana making memories seemingly everytime these two clubs faced off. I can even recall Steve Bono leading one Chiefs team to something like 14 wins during a season. Of course Marcus Allen scored TD after TD not only for the Raiders but also the Chiefs later in his career. No doubt the chance to stick it to Al played in his decision to sign with the Chiefs. I remember Bo Jackson and Tim Brown for the Raiders who had the misfortune of Jay Schroder under center. For the Chiefs the two headed monster of Christian Okoye and Barry Word was a force to be reckoned with. The likes of Howie Long, Derrick Thomas, Dale Carter also made these defenses among the leauges best during this time.

* Is it just me or was the Jets Lions game a look in the mirror type matchup. What I mean is I believe both teams are built just the same. Both have a impressive young QB. Both have playmakers at the WR position and RB and Both have outstaniding defenses. To me the Lions have the advantage on the offensive side of the ball with Johnson out wide. He's another one of the TOp 5 playmakers in the NFL, but they lack to experience on the Defensive side of the ball that the Jets have. I have a feeling if they can keep this corp together and are able to add some veteran pieces here and there this team will be a serious Super Bowl contender in the NFC as soon as next year.

It appears your rankings were more accurate than I thought regarding Alabama. I stand corrected by way of your superior technical acumen.

Nice work.

Despite the Blogspot measurables, I think us 5 (Todd, GRC, Josh, Josh and Jesse) are the only people who read this blog.

I disagree. I know at least two or three people who view these pages on a daily basis. Now I completely agree that are loyal fan base is under 10 however I do believe we have occasional hits outside of the 64/60.

Are the three people you know the same three people I know; you, me and Idge?

Also, I assume the bowling tournament is a no go based on the lack of response.

I think its a toss up between the bills and the panthers as the worst in the NFL. seems like the panthers have a little more talent.

They dont play eachother this year.

The Bowling Tournament is a go from my standpoint. I can't speak for everyone but I'm sure you can count Idge, Bopp, James and Ev in. Depending on the time and day of the week Todd and Richard are about 50% or so. You should know by now that the 64/60 isn't one to express their intrest or lack their of by a response on a post.
