COBB Gone...

Randall Cobb, the do everything stud of the universe and one man wrecking machine clad in Blue, recently had nice little sit down, face to face with Chip Crosby of the Lexington Herald. They talked about stuff. The conversation went in a direction that can only be described as south after Cobb discussed his feelings on an array of content like the Farmer's Almanac, Healthcare, foreign relations with Sri Lanka, The STD epidemic, the fact that the Pac 10 is not very scary.... and then this...and it is a crushing blow for any plans of winning the SEC East in the next season.... He said that there was a better than good chance that he would not be returning to Lexington next season and may for-go his senior season(which would have been the thing of legend) and test his wares in the NFL. Sad, sad, day for the Empire to hear of such things. Unfortunately, it becoming quite obvious that Cobb has outgrown his meager surroundings and since he plays for Kentucky, let's face it, his indivdual highlight reel that he has amased is all he can accomplish in a blue uni.
So, Big (un-measurably large to be precise) wrench in the plan to win the SEC East in 2011. Is he ready for the NFL? I would say yes, and evidence of his awesomeness is everywhere on film and digital. Would he benefit from staying? Well, he would remain in the SEC so that can never be a negative on your playing career, but I am going to be honest here, I love Kentucky, I would drop kick my grandmother for the Cats, and I go to war for the Cats every time the situation arrises. But, let's face it, it's Kentucky. It's not like he is returning to Georgia or Alabama or an LSU or Gainesville, where all the pieces are in place to make a National Title run. He would be returning to Kentucky, a basketball school first, with a very fickle fan base for the elongated pig bladder, and despite his greatness, poor play calling would plague him from the sidelines, he would just amass his highlight reel of personal achievements, and it would be the same story over again, because Kentucky has to have the stars align just so for them to make a run at reaching the brass ring which is BCS Bowl and the SEC Championship Game.
Instead of going through the heartache and aggrevation that is the at times moronic direction Kentucky Football goes in, Cobb realizes he could be cashing a very large check playing in somewhere like Tennessee or Oakland(It would be true irony for him to play for the Titans in his home state that treated him like Chris Lofton was treated here)
My money says that Cobb is gone...if he stays, ala Cam Newton, he won't be feeling his leg when he puts his hand in his pockets. I'm not implying anything with that last statement. But thankfully, our fans in Hamburg get it.
