Christmas Comes Early

The 2011 MLB season will kick off with someone other then Joe Morgan and Jon Miller on sunday night baseball. Espn announced that they will not be picking up the contracts of the aging Miller and Morgan, anthough it is very possible that Miller stays on and does the Espn radio version of the game.

Espn is supposedly handing the reigns to Dan shullman and Orel. shullman is awesome at saying a lot with few words and letting the game speak for itself. In today's TV culture this is alot less annoying. I'm sure he learned how to do this by working with Dickie V all those years on college basketball games. Orel has forgot more about pitching then most people ever know. His critique of the game is more positive then negitive, and his observations seem to be more about letting the fan in on something then patting himself on the back (Morgan.) I am possitive the two will be an upgrade over Miller and Morgan.

Personally, I could not be happier that Joe Morgan is out of the booth. I usually watch every single sunday night game and do not have a problem with anything except Morgan. If it were up to Morgan i think he would have rather had baseball become extinct after the Big Red Machine and the Hall of Fame no longer let people in after he was let in. Morgan goes off on tagents that have nothing to do with the game being played or the season in which we are playing in. He is old and an asshole and those two charicteristics are awful for an announcer. Here's to hoping Baseball Tonight doesn't give Morgan a job. He was a decent player that turned into a horrible announcer that would rather blow smoke up the asses of Bench and Rose and himself then talk about today's great players.

Miller, on the other hand, I've always enjoyed and he will still announce for the world champion Giants.

Todd,

So I take it that you aren't a Joe Morgan fan. I also am not a big fan of the man and often bang my head against the wall we he refers to himself in comparison to some of today's best. Agreed on the Shullman and Orel combo however I would suggest a third member either in the booth or in the stands. I was a big fan of the Gammons/Phillips role in years past. I think a guy like Kruk or Grace would be a perfect fit.

agreed.

I like the way Orel and Phillips worked together. If only he wasn't a sex addict.

I don't mind 3 in the booth and with the way that shullman and orel work it could be pretty smooth.
