In-N-Out The 64/60 Week 13

Week 13 was the perfect example as to why teams need not yet close shop on the 2010 season. Three teams who find themselves outside of the playoffs at this point won rather decisively this past week. Two of those teams beat a team who was ahead of them in the standings. Also 4 of the teams who currently hold a playoff spot fell victim to a loss and three of those were decisive. It is weeks like this that allow teams to creep back into the mix. Currently the 6th spot is seperated from 11th by only 16.5 games which can certainly be made up over the remainder of the season. For the first time in several weeks the 64/60 has a new leader to begin the week as the 9irons once again claim the top spot. Things have not been all roses this week as the 9irons have not only lost Chase Utley but Shin Soo-Choo has now found his way to the DL and the strong pitching staff showed some chinks in the armor this past week. This wasn't the week for close contest only one game was decided by less than 4 catagories while 4 of 6 were decided by more than 5. Also this week you had some shuffling of current playoff teams as the Stars fell to the 6th spot and the 41129ers flipped spots. The Factory capitalized on a big win to move into 7th place in the standings while the Smackers and Carp moved up the food chain with decisive wins.

Game Recaps

Los Vonderheides 6 vs. BC Dingers 5. Corey Haim made soft core porn and Christopher Lee had a down week. At one time those headlines were chronichled alongside stories of Bigfoot and Nessie but the aforementioned have turned out to be fact. After several very strong weeks the offensive explosion was certain to come to a sputter and this was the week for the Dingers. The Vonderheides didn't play well but they did manage to hang on by the slightest of margins. Fittingly Mr. Kemp had a very productive week to stick it to his former owner for showing doubt. After 4 straight losses this was a much needed win for the Vonderheides who are in the mix for a playoff spot.

BCFP 9 vs. Barboursville Stars 3. Attention to all members of the 64/60 the Factory have now won two in a row. This is only the second winning streak of the season for us at the Factory so we are rather excited. The Factory featured a strong offense which has been a common theme thus far but for the second week in a row the pitching was very strong which should strike fear into the entire league. For the Stars this loss snapped a three game winning streak and dropped them into the final playoff spot. The Stars pitching was among the leagues best but the offense simply couldn't build on anything.

MVP- Hanley Ramirez .320 2HR 6Runs 8RBI 1SB .970OPS

Ohio River Carp 10. vs. Hendo Colonels 1. The Carp administered the beatdown of the week and took advantage of a bad week all around for the Colonels. The win broke a 6-game skid that had took the Carp from a playoff team to the bottom 3rd of the league. The Carp have had some misfortune thus far with stats deserving of a better record. The Colonels meanwhile have now lost 2 of 3 and have a combined 18-26 record over the last 4 games dropping the Colonels from the second spot in the standings and into 4th place. Fortunately for the Colonels a strong start to the season allows room for error but the Colonels need to reverse the current level of play to assure themselves of a playoff spot.

MVP- Joey Votto .385 3HR 6Runs 7RBI 1.198OPS

Tude Smackers 10 vs. Hell and Damnation 2. Once again the Smackers are out to sabotage the 64/60. This time it appears as though Mr. Ward is willing to give rather than to receive. In between wrecking havoc and trash talking women The Smackers found enough time to slap around the the misses. The Smackers have been in a tailspin losing 7 games in a row while H&D had won two in a row. The Smackers had little trouble this week featuring a very strong offense a very solid pitching. For Hell and Damnation it was the same old story good pitching with no hitting to speak of. No doubt Jesse will celebrate this victory by attempting another trade to sabotage the 2010 season in the 64/60. As for H&D they will focus their attention to once again taking down the Factory.

MVP- Rafael Furcal .538 2HR 9Runs 5RBI 1SB 1.495OPS

Prestige Worldwide 7 vs. LeMaestro's 41129ers 3. Worldwide could be the hottest team in the 64/60. After back to back tie's to start the season Worldwide has realed off a 8-2-1 mark over the next 11 weeks. After having a minor setback to the hands of The Factory last week Worldwide rebounded nicely posting good counting numbers on offense and enough pitching to take advantage. It is always nice when you can earn a victory while still hitting .223. For the 41129ers this makes 4 weeks without a victory and a 0-2-2 mark over that time. The 41129ers really struggled in the pitching department and ownership has seen the error in their approach and are no doubt working to correct the problem. The 41129ers failed to hit double digit HR's and only drove in 33 for the week which more often than not won't get the job done. As the 41129ers do each week, ownership will assess any issues and handle accordingly. Make sure to check your email's this week as not doubt your email request will be full of trade offers.

MVP- Albert Pujols .296 4HR 7Runs 9RBI 2SB 1.125OPS

Argumentative 9irons 9 vs. Rubber Duckies 3. The Duckies seemed to have things figured out. Don't pay attention rely on a once in a lifetime pitching prodigy and a aging slugger and hit cruise control into the playoffs. Problem is after winning three in a row the Duckies have now lost two straight. Vlad has been great and Stras has been a stud but inactive ownership is a tough thing to overcome. The 9irons played well on the field offensively but for the first time seemingly all season the 9irons actually struggled on the Rubber. It's about time he knew what it felt like. The victory wasn't all chocalate and roses however as both Utley and Choo should see extensive time on the DL. THe loss of those two to a already struggling offense will provided GRC3 with his toughest test in his 64/60 career. If he should keep this team at the top of the standings he could be the frontrunner for The Abbott Trophy.

Pickup of the Week- I liked the Gaby Sanchez pickup by Worldwide but the best pickup of the week was Corey Patterson via the Carp. Patterson has always had potential and with that potential has been a little fantasy value. Patterson may have his playing time limited once Scott and another former Cubs prospect Pie return but untill then Patterson is a solid SB option at worst but when effective he is a good source of Runs and has some pop potential. Sanchez could be the better player over the long run but I like the short term value of Patterson.

Head Scratcher of the Week- The Tude Smackers dropping Jason Bartlett for Clint Barmes. Yes Bartlett has been horrible and yes Bartlett doesn't have a track record of success beyond 09 but to drop Bartlett for Clint Barmes. Barmes has no value other than a MI on a all Rockies fantasy squad. Bartlett is better than the 220 hitter he has been thus far so at worst he should hit .260 or better for the ramainder of the season and is a good source of SB. I am actually very suprised given all the injury to MI that Bartlett was not claimed during the FAAB period or has yet to have been picked up on the Waiver Wire.

Trade Analysis

The 41129ers receive Josh Beckett and Madison Bumgarner from the BC Dingers for Jacoby Ellsbury. Bumgarner isn't much better if at all from a typical Waiver pickup but Beckett could be the stud pitcher that the 41129ers desperately need if he can return effective. Given Ellsbury's struggles with injuries his SB could be limited initially once he returns. Still Ellsbury is a elite option but given the recent additions of Reyes and McCutchen the 41129ers need the pitching over the speed. The trade also allows the Dingers to replace the loss of Kemp in the Cabrerra trade last week. This appears to be a win win deal for all involved although the trade made the 9irons boil over in anger.

The 64/60 at the NFBC. Once again we remain at the top of the league standings. A solid not spectacular week alloweed the 2nd place team to close the gap but we still have a 5 point lead. Overall we slipped to 26 of 288.

The trade seemed legit to me. Kinsler has outperformed Longoria over the past month.

So go fuck yourselves.

Dickheads.

Josh,

Barnes accounted for 8 runs, 2 HR, 7 RBI, batted .423.

I would have to disagree with you.

"Barmes has no value other than a MI on a all Rockies fantasy squad."

I also won 10-2 this week. Not a bad pick-up, I would say.

Have you and Todd been discussing sports again? You are using the same dumbfuck reasoning he employs.

The stat line for Barmes is a very solid week for a MI. Nearly every player at some point has a good week to week stretch. All MLB pitchers are capable of performing like Tom Seaver at some point. When I evaluate these Add/Drop's each week I try to look long term. In my opinion Jason Bartlett will be much more valuable than Clint Barmes for the remainder of 2010. I attempt to find the best players from this point on because what happened last week doesn't help me this week. Sometimes recent performance is a indication of future success but often times it is simply a hot streak. In my opinion Barmes's recent success is simply just a Hot streak. Can this go on for another month? Perhaps, but I would bet against it. As for Todd I have not had conversations with him but I have recently had a textual relationship. Perhaps the text contained a subliminal (excuse the spelling if in error) message.

Lets not go just throwin awards at Rashard.

Keep in mind that 7 of my top 15 picks have now spent extended time on the DL. Sizemore and Morales both being done for the year........And yet I haven't missed a beat in kicking this leagues ass on a regular basis.

I am not throwing any awards GRC3's way. In the event he should maintain the top spot all season long then that would be impressive. I personaly don't feel as though he will accomplish this feat. As for you your accomplishments thus far rank somewhere in between hitting homers off a pitching machine at 12 and having all the Jacks WWF wrestling figures.

The Bopp said...

LOL... For clarification one last time, I played a half year extra of minor league where I was not the oldest player in the league and in most cases only months older than others. Of course I dominated, while you were one field up dangling from Caleb Stewarts jock strap. Either way, I still have more athletic ability in my left nut than you have in your entire body.

2ndly, I have the complete Hasbro WWF collection, minus the green card series(Ludvig Borga, 123 Kid, etc.)

Get your shit straight, Beak.

Josh,

In evaluating Barnes pickup, I'm not thinking in terms of sustainability from the free agent pool, he is the flavor of the week.

His season long value is minimal; agreed. But he was a good pickup for the week.

Chris,

Outdoing people who are younger/smaller/"not of the same ability"/etc than you is, in fact, not an accomplishment at all; rather an embarrassment to consider it even noteworthy. You disgust me. I bet you made fun of the retarded kids at school. Mega-douche.

Also, Coleman could outdo you at anything physical...(baseball, football, watching sports, etc) anything. I guarantee it. You look like a 4 year old girl when trying to throw a baseball.

Gilbert,

Do you want to chime in here regarding Chris's "athletic ability"?

Jesse

What are you talking about?...I stated that I was relatively the same age for my last season of minor league....So what is your point? I dominated every level I played at during my time at Fannin Park.

I would gladly take you up on a significant wager in testing my athletic ability versus that of the beaked one..If your gonna talk nonsense..just don't talk.

jesseward said...

Chris,

Dominated every level you played? You are the only person who thinks this. Playing in minor little league when you are 11 or 12 does not qualify as dominating because you weren't even good enough to get into little league. Face it, you failed at little league, which is difficult to do considering the level of play in Cannonsburg, KY.

You are one of the biggest pussies I've ever met and I'm willing to put up your paycheck (all $17) that says Coleman can wipe the floor with you at a baseball contest. (hitting, throwing, fielding, etc).

What do you say?

Sincerely,

Jesse

The Bopp said...

What do I say? I issued the challenge homo.

I've been saving at my minimum wage job though, and would certainly like to increase the wager.

jesseward said...

Meatloaf,

What do you say to a baseball contest dumbfuck? It wasn't obvious that you specifically agreed to a baseball contest. Ambiguity is not your friend when wager money.

Furthermore, Coleman's agents have agreed to a wiffle ball contest, where a panel of judges will decide who is the more dominate player based on the batting and fielding statistics achieved during the game.

The wager will be $20. (your paycheck $17 + your 401K $3).

Do you agree to these terms?

You are so gay.

Jesse
