In-N-Out The 64/60 Week 10

It was a week for nail-bitters in the 64/60. One game finished in a tie while one game was a one stat decision, two decided by two stats and one game decided by three. To further add to the drama many of the outcomes were decided by a single Run here or a HR there. Only one game had been decided before the start of action on Sunday. It was also the week for the tough luck loser as the Bear Creek Coleman Clan had a rough go of it posting totals that were among the leagues best but as those pesky matchups would have it our opponents played just slightly better. Not much change within the standings do to the close contest. The 9irons hold onto the top spot once again followed once again by the Dingers and Colonels. Thank to the lone blowout of the week Prestige Worldwide moved into the 4th spot. Perhaps the most encouraging news from the week is the play of the Duckies and Hell and Damnation. Both had excellent weeks statistically this week. The Duckies have now won two consecutive games and hopefully for competition purposes H&D can build on the big week moving forward and make this a 12 team battle for the playoffs.

Rubber Duckies 6 vs. Bear Creek FP Factory 5. As previously mentioned the Duckies have now won two in a row and 3 of 4 after a terrible run out of the gate. It was a remarkable week for the Duckies as both the Hitting and Pitching performed at the elite level. Four league best marks were set by the Duckies this week while the Factory had some success also posting 3 league best totals. The Factory have now lost 3 of their last 4 but the moral is still good and I fully expect to make a playoff push.

MVP- Vlad Guerrero .360 2 HR 8Runs 7RBI 1.069 OPS

League Best- Duckies: Runs 54, HR 14, AVG .318, OPS .935 Factory: HR 14, SB 12, SV 9

BC Dingers 7 vs. Hell and Damnation 4. The Dingers finally managed to beat someone who reside with the Bear Creek Coleman Clan and it took a hell of a performance to do it. The Dingers have now won two straight after a bit of a rough patch in Weeks 7 and 8. Hell and Damnation suffered a heartbreaking loss much like the Factory. H&D posted four weekly best totals but it still wasn't enough. In Sunday Night Baseball's dual no-hitter bid H&D owned both starters so as expected she ended the week with a rather nice WHIP.

MVP- Adam Dunn .455 4HR 7Runs 7RBI 1.591 OPS

League Best- Dingers:HR 14, RBI 56, K 79, K/9 8.53 H&D: HR 14, ERA 1.74 WHIP .85 QS 9.

Season Best- H&D ERA 1.74, WHIP .85

Barboursville Stars 7 vs. Ohio River Carp 5. The Stars picked up their second win in three games and keep a hold of their coveted 6th spot in the standings for another week. The Stars swept the offensive stats and escaped with a slight edge in QS 4-3 to earn the W. The Carp have now lost 4 in a row and 6 of 7 to slip into 10th place in the standings. Still plenty of time to get things going but I'm sure Big Bill would like the turnaround to begin this week.

MVP- Aubrey Huff .348 3HR 5Runs 7RBI 1.401 OPS

League Best- NA

Prestige Worldwide 10 vs. Los Vonderheides 1. Prestige continues to be one of the hotter teams in the 64/60. Prestige has a 4-0-1 record over the last 5 Weeks and is now a rather comfortable 15 games over .500 and in 4th place in the standings. Worldwide had a solid week posting 44/45 run totals with 11 HR on offense and while the pitching totals were sub par the usually reliable rotation of the Vonderheides imploded this week so Worldwide coasted to a easy win. Perhaps the name change lead to the miserable week but Gilbert felt that his small ball image needs to be changed and what better way to start than a name change. Besides anything that involves baseball and Bucky is going to be good. Now all we need is the new logo perhaps sponsored by Bobby's Mulch.

MVP- Robinson Cano .455 2HR 9Runs 2RBI 1.192 OPS

League Best- NA

Argumentative 9irons 7 vs. Tude Smackers 5. The 9irons were another league powerhouse that struggled to gain victory this week. The 9irons contest was decided by the slimest of margins as only 2 Runs separated the teams. Both teams posted respectable offensive numbers with 40+ Runs/RBI for both teams. The Smackers simply got no production from their pitching posting a 5.68 ERA for the week. It was good to see some activity from the Smackers this week and perhaps the biggest event was the Smackers returned to the blog long enough to talk some smack. I hope this hiatus ends soon this league needs a smack talkin bad guy and no one fits the role better than William Jesse Ward.

MVP- Matt Cain 2QS 9K .56ERA 1.13WHIP 5.06K/9

League Best- NA

LeMaestros 41129ers 6 vs. Hendo Colonels 6. This battle amongst two of the leagues heavyweights ended in a draw. The Colonels tie ended a 5 game winning streak and perhaps put a minor chink in the armor. As for the 41129ers the tie ended a 3 game winning streak for them. Both teams posted solid offensive numbers across the board but pitching failed both teams as both posted ERA's above 4.50 and a WHIP above 1.45Their matchup was so close that a mere 1.47 WHIP for the 41129ers just edged the Colonels who posted a 1.48 WHIP thus the 6-6 outcome. Both teams still find themselves in the drivers seat for playoff spots. However I did guarantee over the weekend that once the dust settles and smoke clears the Factory will be inside the playoffs while the 41129ers will be on the outside looking in.

MVP- Josh Hamilton .370 4HR 7Runs 13RBI 1.322OPS

League Best-NA

Season Worst- 41129ers: Saves 0 Tie

Pickup Of The Week

Mike Stanton BCFP- Yes the budget was almost blown and yes he is a first year player but Stanton has the skills to be a very productive fantasy option this season. His average may be in the 25-260 range but he has legit 20+HR power and has a formidable lineup around him.

Head Scratcher of The Week

Roster Management Bear Creek FP Factory- Since no Add/Drop seemed outlandish this week I will put the spotlight on a mistake we here at the Factory made this week. While waiting for Stanton to clear Waivers I needed a bat to replace Orlando Hudson. Instead of picking up a HR threat I elected to pick up Torres from the Giants. Torres is a reasonable option but he is more of a speed threat. I clearly had a distinct upper hand in SB and although I was leading in HR at the time the margin was smaller. Had I selected a Power bat for those 3 days perhaps another HR could have come my way which could have resulted in a 6-5 Win instead of a 5-6 loss.

64/60 at the NFBC

Once again we are 4th in the league but we have moved up 29 spots in the Overall to 52 of 288. We continue to be one of the hotter teams in the league mixing good hitting with good pitching. For the first time we chose to focus on some two start pitchers in the Free Agent pool and hopefully we can add on to our K and W totals. We did miss out on Mike Stanton which was a bummer but 399 was a little more than we were willing to go.
