Coleman's Commentary

Six days remain in the 2009 Football season. Six days until the champion is crowned will it be the NFC's most explosive offense or will it be the cream of the crop in the AFC who have still not lost a game they have attempted to win. Regardless of your interest in football or this particular matchup you will more than likely be watching. The Super Bowl is simply a part of Americana. Each year the ratings continue to climb and if this seasons playoffs are any indication a 70 share looks feasible. Given the competitiveness of the last two Super Bowl's and the buzz created by the commercials the Super Bowl has something for fans of the game as well as those who think Peyton Manning is a movie star rather than a QB.

When you are sitting at your favorite location on Sunday chomping down on some Wings and washing it down with a ice cold Coors Light who will you be rooting for? Obviously if you are a lifelong Colts fan with a horseshoe tattoo on you ass, you have the Colts. And if your a fan of the Saints or Keeping Up With The Kardashians then the Saints are your team. But who are the millions of fans who are unaffiliated with a certain team supposed to root for. If your for the Saints you are for the glass slipper. From the devastation of Katrina to the possible move to San Antonio the Saints have been to the deepest depths a NFL franchise can be. Prior to this season the Saints have had just a handful of playoffs wins over the course of two decades coming into the season the playoffs were a realistic goal but a 13-0 start along with the deepest offensive assault in football wasn't expected. The Colts on the other hand are the Fortune 500 company that all teams strive to be. From the GM down to the Equipment Manager everything seems to run perfectly. Through injuries to coaching changes the on the field results remain the same. They have the GOAT at the QB position and as long as 18 is under center the Colts will be winners.

Regardless of which side your on I plea to you to pick one. Don't be the guy/girl who roots for the good game. I contest that fan doesn't truly exist. In all my years of watching sports I have never watched a game and not at some point been pulled to one side or the other. Therefore if your alliances aren't established prior to the kickoff then you never have the true highs or true lows that a contest can provide. If you remain neutral you will find yourself on the side of victory each and every drive. Sports aren't only about victory. Sports are about disappointments. It is these disappointments that make the taste of victory that much sweeter. So this Sunday as the gametime nears decide which side your on and stay devoted to that team as if they were your own. You will be rewarded with true emotion and excitement rather than entertainment alone and that is what sports are about.

Spreadology 2009. I have had a strong postseason going 7-3 over the last month and like many of these contest I really like this game. The Colts have been here before just three season ago winning the Super Bowl at the same venue. Although the name has changed the results will still be the same. The Colts offense will simply be to much for the Saints defense and 18 will hoist his second championship in 4 years. Colts 38-21.
