Week in and week out, Burt post his top 25. I have disagreed with most of them. I decided it was time to assemble a Brain Trust here in South Catlettsburg, an alliance between England Hill and Paddle Creek, and present what will be the defenitive Top 25...
1. Florida- While technically not the best team in America, they are the defending champs and have yet to be
Beat…To be the man, you got to beat the man…
2. Alabama- We at the Society feel this is the best team in the country. It seems as the issues that they were having with the passing game have been addressed.
3. Texas- Unfortunately, the perennial power is gonna’ have to slip up before the overrating of their team can stop. Cinderella’s hopes will die in Austin.
4. TCU- They might very well be the best team in TEXAS. We have been saying it all along, they are the dark horse with the best shot. Big Bro, keeps em’ out.
5. Cincinnati- The Bearcats keep winning and proving us wrong…but we still don’t like them. Two very talented QB’s though.
6. Boise State- The only reason they get here is because they are unblemished. They have been that annoying little Mid-major for the last several seasons. Blue Turf…
7. Georgia Tech- Oh the Ramblin’ Wreck…one loss.. Better than two of the teams who are ranked higher…Guess who they are?
8. Oregon- A little shake up here. They have 2 loses, but are better than any team not in the top 7 regardless of record.
9. Pitt- They are going to beat Cincinnati Saturday. Phase one of universal BCS course correction will be complete. Another 1 loss team.
10. LSU- A very tough and capable SEC team. The 2 loses were in SEC play. That is good enough for the top 10.
11. Oklahoma State- Kinda’ weird to put a non-Sooners Oklahoma squad this high this late in the season.. But this year, it’s all Cowboys .
12. Ohio State- I hate it. I have fallen into the trap of overrating the Buckeyes. They are only here because of the Rose Bowl Birthing win.
13. Iowa- Another Big 10 team. They are not the same Iowa squad that was running rough shot in the Big 10.
14. Virginia Tech- Overlook those Nike Pro Combat Uni’s and the 3 loses. This is right were they belong.
15. Penn State- Half the reason they are here is because I had to break up the monotony of Big 10 teams. The other reason…Too many cupcake wins…
16. Stanford- It’s a color, not a bird. Only one Pac 10 squad is better..Maybe the Pac 10 is not all that scary after all.
17. Wisconsin- The Badgers maybe ranked higher than they should be, but they only have 2 loses and are at least a top 20 squad.
18. Miami- The U was showing flashes of Jimmy and Larry ball early on…kinda’ hit a snag…But, the storm is brewing..
19. USC- The Mighty Trojans seem to have encountered their horse.
20. Clemson- Get a top 20 squad just for the fact that Ron Dotson changed it up at the Burg one season and we went with the white Clemson paw on Orange.
21. Oregon State- The Beavers were not DAM good this year…but it is still good enough for the top 25.
22. Utah- The Utes were obliderated by TCU. No shame in that this season.
23. Houston- The conference USA program might be better than this, but probably not…
24. BYU- The Mormons were called by some(Burt) the darlings of the BCS, we knew that they were still just baby marrying bastards.
25. Ole Miss- Looking at everybody that was left, the best team is a former early season hype machine. The Rebs get the nod, whole heartedly because they are from the SEC.
Knocking on the door- North Carolina, Cal, Rutgers, Nebraska, Arizona,NAVY, Temple, Auburn, Georgia, and WVU… not knocking at all…Marshall…below them, Notre Dame.
