"You are what your record says you are." that was the famous line from Bill Parcells when asked what he thought about his team while coaching in Dallas. In the land of Fantasy Football that sentiment rings true by Week 10. At this point in the 64/60 we have 4 teams who remain above .500. We have 5 teams at or a game behind .500. One team two games below and two teams whose season has ended. The teams that are at or just below .500 have shown one thing this year and that is average or inconsistent play. Thankfully for the teams that are at or below .500 we play in a 4 team playoff style. Now you may notice that if we played in a 6 team playoff system that 2 teams who currently are at .500 would be in the playoffs at this point but since we play in the four team format we are currently out of the playoffs. So how is a 4 team playoff more beneficial to those squads? The 4 team playoff gives you a better chance to mask your flaws than the 6 team playoff. If you are near a .500 team for a course of 10 weeks it's hard for me to imagine you being able to pull of 3straight wins during the playoffs but a two game winning streak is much more likely. So for those middle of the pack squads your goal is to hover in playoff contention and hope that two game over will get you in and hope for two solid weeks. We are going to go down to the wire over these next 4 weeks but as a owner of a .500 squad I don't have much faith in my boy's to win more than a couple of games in a row so I like my chances in a shallow playoff pool. Now it's just a matter of getting there.
In league action from Week 10 in a heavyweight showdown of the bottom two squads it was 9irons nearly doubling the B'Ville Stars. The Stars got of the week on a bad note with Cutler(who has been his downfall all year)scoring -5 pts and it didn't get any better the Stars failed to have any player score in double digit and the 36 pt output was the low point in a very disappointing season from a very honorable owner. McClung at least it's the Holiday Season and you get to work 6 days a week. Richard I hope you take great pride in this win but the bottom spot in the standings may just have your name on it. After the emotional win this week I see a letdown against bernie leroy next week. Speaking of bernie leroy he knocked the shit out of the Factory this week. bernie leroy continues a hot streak winning 4 of 5 and coming from the depths of the standings to find himself at .500 and the advantage in points scored. Steven Jackson had a huge day with 21pts and Brent Celek done his best Dallas Clark performance and scored 12pts. The game of the week featured two playoff contenders as the Urinators edged the Knockers 89-88. The game came down to Derrick Mason on Monday Night the Knockers needed 5 catches or a TD for the Win they got 3 catches and a loss. The Urinators continue to live off of Chris Johnson who once again scored over 20 pts with 27 this week. Johnson may be the number 1 fantasy player in the NFL this year. As for the Knockers the loss puts them on thier heels after a really fast start. They are still in the playoffs at this point but with questionable RB play this team needs Brees to be that player who consistently produces 14-20 pts. to be succesful. In another nail-bitter amongst playoff teams the Hendo Colonels managed a 3 pt win over the Asses in a suprisingly low scoring affair 54-51.The Colonels suffered from to many non-factor players this week with Big Ben managing 1 point and Nate Burleson scoring 0 but Peterson proved worthy of the number 1 pick and scored 16 the Asses had steady production but only won respectable performance and that was Rodgers with 13. Both squads are in the playoff should the seaon end today but both squads appear to be vulnerable at times just like every team in this league besides.........The Amish. The Amish continue to steamroll through everyone(except The Factory). Apparently my dominance over the Bopper doesn't extend to my wife as the Amish pound Hell and Damnation(which should be just Hell this season since her co-owner doesn't participate)85-46. The Amish had big performances after big performance. Marshall 17pts.,MJD 14(could have been 20), Gore 15, and if enough wasn't enough the damn Defense scored 20. What is more amazing is that the Amish got 0 points from their QB and number 1 WR. As much as it pains me the Irish, I mean Amish are a force in this league and it will take a upset along the way to knock them out of a Championship. And finally in a matchup that could have been a elimination bout the Hunters shock the world and beat the Beakers 85-64. The Hunters picked up Betts on a whim and he pitches in 12 pts. Jeremy Maclin has a better than normal day and scores 12. Moss is Moss and goes for 21. It was a big win for the Hunters and even more devastating loss for the Beakers. Despite the 718 points which is good for the 2nd best in the league the Beakers find themselves at 4-5-1 though only a game below .500 that tie plays like a loss and makes the Beakers 2.5 games out of the playoffs with 4 games to play it's going to take a 3-1 mark down the stretch to pull it off. Can the Beakers do it? Possibly but unlike baseball their is no Butch Lemaster to help them out. Mark it Dude!!!!
