64/60 Sports Presents A Bear Creek FP Factory Production: Spreadology 2009

"Just when I thought I was out they pulled me back in." That was one of the more memorable quotes from the Godfather Saga. As with Michael Corleone I to thought I was out but a week later I am back under the .500 mark. Unlike Mr. Corleone I will break free of the chain that binds me. We have plenty of time left in the season. Each week provides me game after game to choose from and I will continue to use my knowledge and due my research to provide you with winners. Those of you who stick with me until the end will be heavily rewarded. And when you are squeezing two shorty's at the club on a Saturday Night you will have me to thank.

Givem or Takem Money Makin Picks of the Week

Navy vs. Notre Dame -11. The Midshipmen can be a tough matchup. They run the oldstyle option attack of your grandpa's day and it is hard to simulate it in practice. The Irish have played to spread option teams this year with mixed results. The D looked good against Nevada but really struggled with tackling and bad angles in the loss to Michigan. Notre Dame has tackled better of late and the speed on defense should be well suited for the more traditional option attack of the Midshipmen. Offensively the Irish should score at will. The return of Floyd should only deepen the offensive talent and make them more explosive. Floyd's return should prevent any emotional letdown for the game. Other than the first Navy win in 40+ years two season ago the Irish have dominated this matchup since Weis became coach last years 27-21 contest was 27-7 until the Midshipmen recovered two On Side Kick's in the final three minutes to close the gap. This years contest will be a 25 point Irish Win and more than double the spread. Plenty cushion in this one. Irish Win 40-17.

LSU vs. Alabama -9. It is my obligation to include the biggest games of the weekend in the Spreadology section. This weekends only big time game is this SEC Matchup. Lost in all the BCS controversy talk is LSU. Should LSU beat Bama and run the table they would square of against Florida in the SEC title game. Should the Tigers beat the Gators than a spot in the National Title Game would more than likely belong to the Tigers. All that said it's not gonna happen. About a month ago Bama was the best all around team in the country. The D was as good as it gets Ingram was a beast and McElroy was making enough plays that the Tide was averaging 40 pts per game. Over the last month Ingram has still been a beast, the D is perhaps the best in the nation but McElroy skill, shall we say kindly, has been questioned. LSU comes into the game much like Bama. The Defense has played very well but offensively it has been a struggle. Jefferson for the most part has struggled and Scott has been the lone playmaker on offense. But unlike Ingram, Scott doesn't constantly get feed the ball over and over. LSU seems to want Jefferson to make some plays and they will give him every opportunity to do so. Bama's D is as good or better than Florida and LSU only scored 3 at home against the Gators. Expect two Bama turnovers to lead to easy scores and McElroy bounces back with a 300 yard day as the Tide roll out of the bye week with a 31-10 Win.

Oregon vs. Stanford +6. This game is flying under the radar this week. Oregon looked about as good as a team could look last week at home vs. USC. They executed perfectly and played with so much emotion. In college football it is hard to duplicate the emotion week after week. Stanford is a very good football team that can go toe to toe with anyone in the Pac 10. Oregon must now travel to Palo Alta and play a football team that wants to put a exclamation point on their season. Oregon comes out flat and Stanford not only keeps it close but pulls of the upset over the Mighty Ducks of Oregon. Stanford Wins 34-31.

Recap: IRISH -11, ALABAMA -9, Stanford +6. Remeber Bet Big and Bet OFTEN.

Season Record: 16-18 Last Week: 1-2
