In-N-Out The 64/60 Week 19

For several years now Lucy has been a very good pet. She's friendly, good with kids, minds fairly well, essentially all you could ask for in a family dog. Sure she may eat the occasional tampon but hey we all have are quirks. So I was delighted to be able to showcase her status as the First Dog of the 64/60 and feature her as the lead in the most recent Lethal Lottery. I have heard from several regarding your thoughts on the video and would like to extend a big thank you. In all seriousness I enjoy these silly games we play and want nothing more than to win each and every league I'm in. With that said it's all about having fun and sharing laughs with the people you know that make Fantasy ______(fill in the blank) so enjoyable. I consider it my job as Commissioner to extend this enjoyment beyond draft day and the regular season grind and into this little webpage/blog and the "Lethal Lottery." It's always nice to know the efforts are enjoyed. I look forward to raising the bar for the 2014 Baseball Lethal Lottery and beyond. For any that enjoyed the shenanigans of the Lethal Lottery video I urge you to hit your local bookstore or shop online and purchase Matthew Berry's new book "Fantasy Life" the book is filled with tons of stories on wacky events much like the Lucy video. It's a most own for fantasy players or at least the types I would welcome with open arms into the league.

What a wacky week it was within the 64/60. Not so much with shocking results but just with how the matchups played out. Take Fenney and Lemaster for example, easily the two worst weeks within the league. Yet matched up with each other Ev takes 5 of 6 offensive stats with 35 Runs, 30 RBI, 7 SB(respectable), .246 AVG and a OPS of .672 in the same matchup Fenney goes 5-0-1 in pitching despite a modest 63K 3SV 7.70K/9 4.28ERA and 1.37WHIP. On the other side of the ledger you have the PED's vs the Takeover. Same concept just better numbers cosmetically. The Takeover posted a offensive statline of 51/17/53/6/.295/.874 yet lost 4-2, the pitching wasn't elite yet a combination of 5 SV, 3.39ERA, and 1.19WHIP will typically get you one stat. The newly named Grand Theft Votto has returned into the ever popular, "if the season ended today, I would be in the playoff" crowd with the decisive 10-1 victory over the Free Hats. After a blistering start to the season Jr. was a loser in 9 of 10, he's battled back of late and posted a 35-22 mark over the last five. Still don't love the team overall but certainly has enough pieces to make it into the roll of the dice that can be the playoffs. Two teams that I have been monitoring closely over the last few weeks are the Free Hat and Walls of Jericho. While the Free Hat has had the occasional sub-par pitching week over the last month + this past week was his first complete egg of a week. Leads me to believe the team that has been the best all season continues to be just that. Walls on the other hand is a different story. Offensively they are just above average at best, when the pitching has done what it has done the majority of the season above average is more than enough. Problem is over the last three weeks or so the pitching has been more average to below average. Combine the recent play with the injuries of offensive superstar Carlos Gonzalez and the likely imposed IP limit of Harvey and the team we have seen the majority of the season won't be the same as the potential playoff squad. Bowe's the current Champ and a smart player who will make the adjustments needed but one does have to wonder if B2B titles are possible. Another team who's signature has come into question of late would be the Scrote Mashers and that vaunted offense. While the Average offensive stats(AVG/OPS) have been below average over the last month + the counting #'s had still been there. Over the last two weeks the Mashers weekly average for the counting numbers are 10.5 HR/39 Runs/36 RBI/6.5 SB, not terrible yet not the type of output you have come to expect. The counter argument of course would be small sample size which is noted, and perhaps more importantly is how well the pitching has been over the last month(we'll brush over this past weeks performance), which nullifies at the moment my biggest concern with this team should the offense not be elite.

The Playoff Push

The way I see it 9 teams have a playoff pulse at the moment. I feel the Hat with a 16 game lead in the standings gets the first * of the season. Thus leaving 8 to battle for 5 spots. Here are the remaining schedules of the 9 playoff caliber teams.

41129 8.5 GB- HGH+, B'Ville Stars, Walls. Has some control but needs a double digit victory.
PED 4.5 GB- Walls, Hat, BCFP. Could you imagine the potential drama in the final week?
Emanski 2 GB- 9irons, Votto, Takeover. Couldn't ask for a better slate than the closest team your chasing and the bottom two teams in the league.
Votto- Mashers, Emanski, HGH+. With two teams ahead and the next in line this is the definition of controlling your DENSITY.
HGH +1- 41129, 9irons, Votto. 11th place and two of three up and comers another big chip lead for Mr. Rice.
Walls +6.5- PED, BCFP, 41129. 3-4 games over .500 should do it.
BCFP +10.5-Stars, Walls, PED. .500 ball makes playoffs. A good run to close it out could earn a BYE.
Mashers +11- Votto, Takeover, Hat. Another drama filled finale with potential BYE or top spot at stake.
Hat +16- Takeover, PED, Scrote. Couple games over .500 should secure a BYE at the least.

Pickup Of The Week

Free Hat- Alex Wood $26 FAAB. The day simply isn't complete without a little Wood. It's not often you can pick up over a K per inning talent in the Waiver Pool. For whatever reason Wood hasn't been embraced in the 64/60 circles this season. 2.61 ERA with a 1.03 WHIP to go along with the aforementioned K ratio's and plus totals. That type of production should be welcomed for a team who has already built quite a pitching arsenal. While the Braves do have a potential decision on their hands at some point regarding their rotation it appears for the time being that Wood will remain in one of those spots and hit the mound every 5th day or so.

Head Scratcher Of The Week

Scrote Mashers drop Alex Wood. While I would be a miss if I didn't at least mention the $50 in FAAB spent by Emanski on a handful of AB's by Andrew Lambo, the Mashers really dropped the ball here with Wood. All season long I have praised the Mashers for their offensive prowess but have been quick to point out their pitching struggles. While the results have been better of late I still attest the overall skill level just isn't where it needs to be to make a lengthy playoff run. With all that said this team is only a couple of difference making arms away from erasing that doubt. Wood would have certainly classified as one of those needed arms.
