In-N-Out The 64/60 Week 15

It may have took a while but finally Week 15 is in the books. I suppose Yahoo attempted to warn us. After all info on how the All-Star break was going to be played has been right at out finger tips for several weeks now. Like most I just assumed it would be as in years past when the short post All-Star stretch would be added to the following scoring period. The great philosopher, Dave Toeller, once told me if you assume you make a ass out of u and me. Well played Yahoo, well played. For anyone who took my word as gospel, you deserve disappointment, never let one person dictate your decisions in life. For those who correctly chose to look at the official Yahoo presser, your search for answers was rewarded. For the handful of owners within the league who didn't even realize baseball was still going on, preseason Football starts in less than two weeks.

Put me on record for saying I'm not a fan of the new format for 2013. Don't get me wrong it's still better than the archaic short scoring period when one good day often lead to several decisive victories. I don't understand changing it from the last several seasons combining post break with the following week. The post week gives every team a more balanced offering. Teams often flip their rotations post break so with the post All Star format each starter would be a two start option. In the carryover format used this season several teams were effected by the same rotation changes but not all in the same manner. My guess is Yahoo will revert back to the old format after the plethora of hate mail that resulted from altering the alternative universe of Fantasy owners.

Game Recaps

BC PEDophiles 8 vs. Argumentative 9irons 4. Offensive push over the final weekend saved Richard some embarrassment in this one-sided affair. First victory in over a month for Bopp yet still remains only 7 games back of a playoff spot. If he is going to make that playoff push he will have to do so without the foundation of which the franchise was built, Ryan Braun. Perhaps Bopp will re-evaluate his loosy-goosy stance on PED's from this point forward. For the 9irons the contender/pretender line is becoming less and less translucent. Currently 8 back from the playoffs but a 11-33 mark over the last month has knocked this team from the top 4 in the league to it's bottom quadrant.

Topps- NA
O'Pee Chee- SV-9irons 0, ERA-9irons 4.89, WHIP-9irons 1.59
MVP- Greinke 3QS 19K .41/.77/7.77

Walls Of Jericho 9 vs. Free Hats 3. In the battle for the top spot Walls of Jericho once again reigns supreme. His 14-9 mark H2H against the Free Hats goes a long way in the current 6.5 game lead. While I am not a proponent of the Walls strategy on the pitching side when it's going well this squad will be tough to beat. In this particular matchup the Walls had the offense to thank. Performing about as well as anyone outside the Mashers. While no asterisks has been placed alongside the Walls name as of this point you might as well put it on the board. While your at it despite the loss the Hats are a sure thing. Sure Todd is monitoring the hips of Miguel Cabrera on a minute to minute basis but at least in the early stages it would appear to be nothing.

Topps- Runs-Walls 78, AVG-Walls .293
O'Pee Chee- QS-Walls 5
MVP- G. Holland 4SV 5K 0.00/.50/11.25

BCFP 5 vs. Takeover 5. Thank you Mike Napoli, thank you. This could very well have been the matchup of the year. From a performance standpoint the production was about average yet the production was mirroring across the board. Four stats ended up one sided all were won by me. Every other stat was up for grabs throughout the day Sunday. I lead 6-5 heading into play Sunday Night. Sabathia pitches poorly, a all to common theme in 2013. I trail 6-5 until Mike Napoli hits the walkoff and earns me the 5-5 tie thanks to a push in Runs. Perhaps the true drama of the events doesn't play out well in type but I assure you it was a roller coaster ride of emotions.

Topps- SB-Takeover 14
O'Pee Chee- AVG-BCFP .248
MVP- Wainwright 2QS 20K 3.00/1.19/8.57

Marshall Maniacs 7 vs. Seal Team 41129ers 4. First win in a month puts the Maniacs in the front of the bus looking into the playoffs. Currently 4.5 back and well within reach, even so this team is starting to realize the door could be closing on the 2013 season. Notice Jr's topics of late on the message thread. Football, football and football. With a below marginal track record in baseball and a title to his name in football I can see why Jr's loyalties are swaying. Yet you've come to far in this thing to stop now. Regardless of my personal thoughts regarding your squad it has managed to stay competitive. Keep sending those 15 trade request daily. Keep picking up those spot starters and claim Cy Young worthy greatness. Besides your exploits in football really aren't that much better. You just happened to get lucky with Cam Newton as your #2 in a 2 QB league. That 2nd title is likely a lifetime away my friend. For those of you concerned about the status of the 41129ers let it be known that Ev Lemaster is still at the helm and pushing all the buttons. One too many visits to adult themed websites got his Yahoo account hacked thus the recent owner change under the transaction listings was a straight up Ev Lemaster for Ev Lemaster.

Topps- SV-Maniacs 16
O'Pee Chee- SB-Maniacs 1, AVG-Maniacs .248, OPS-Maniacs .701, K/9-41129ers 6.14
MVP-Colon 3QS 14K 1.21/.94/5.64

Scrote Mashers 8 vs. Barboursville Stars 4. One victory in two months isn't good. It's that lack of consistency that leads me to believe those 10 games in back of the playoff muddle could be too much for this collection of Stars. It's not my style to put a fork in someone but the unwillingness to deal Strasburg and the overall poor play gives me no other choice. Luckily for Senior he played admirably at the Swing and Swim thus saving me from attacking his character. For the Mashers it was a prototypical week. Great hitting combined with lousy pitching but as has been the case thus far in 2013 some favorable matchups which resulted in 2 W's from the pitching. It's not a formula I subscribe to, much like the Walls pitching approach there is a certain level of risk involved, yet up until this point it has worked. I'll still stand beside my statement of the Mashers missing out on the playoffs. Yet my stance is becoming weaker by the week.

Topps- HR-Mashers 22, RBI-Mashers 72,SB-Mashers-14, OPS-Mashers-.857, K-Stars-123, QS-Stars-16
O'Pee Chee- SV-Stars 0, K-Mashers 72
MVP- Lincecum 2QS 24K 1.69/.69/13.5

HGH+ Factory 7 vs. Tom Emanski Deathsquad 5. Had a visit from Mr. Rice this past Sunday. The standard fare. Nice conversation at the 64/60 Headquarters accompanied by a few adult beverages and a youngling who can't figure out that she's taller than the grill. While this interaction will be dismissed by most, I assure you some of the groundwork was laid that will change the 64/60 landscape FOOOOORRRR...EEEVVVV....EEER. While much is left to be determined I assure you in some lifetime it will be played out. When that time comes there will be dancing in the streets, love in the air, and the lasting legacy of two owners will be cemented. As if his off the field exploits wasn't enough Nate kept hold of the 6th playoff spot and closed to within a half a game of Emanski, all the while taking Emanski's two game winning streak and disposing of it. Not bad for a man who spent the past week soaking up the salty water and toasting his feet in the warm South Carolina sand.

Pickup Of The Week

Chris Archer-PEDophiles. Dominate of late. Recent stretch isn't what you should expect but seems to have turned the corner after a rough start to his big league career.

Head Scrather Of The Week

Tom Emanski's Deathsquad adds Denard Span for $5 of FAAB. Truth be told another case where I really couldn't find anything noteworthy. Besides who am I to criticize someone using FAAB money poorly. Span is a guy who is more reputation than substance. Has no power to speak of and doesn't run all that much. His value is tied to a AVG that won't hurt you and scoring Runs which has been a struggle in 2013 not only for Span but the entire Nationals lineup. The $5 in FAAB likely won't be missed but why risk it for a replacement level option.

Trade Analysis

Garza to Rangers for Olt, Edwards, Grimm and PTBNL or P'sTBNL. Garza's value takes a dip due to the double whammy of NL to AL and the Home park of Arlington. He's had success in the AL before so if he can luck out and get more road than home starts he still could be a solid fantasy play. Fingers crossed ERA below 4.00. For the Cubs Grimm could see some starts down the stretch but offers nothing more than spot start potential. Olt will most certainly see some time in the big leagues this season. WHile he currently ranks as a Prospect at age 24 that door could be closing. The power, plate discipline and defense all rate well it's the swing and miss concerns that will ultimately decide his fate. While Chris Davis, Mark Reynolds and Adam Dunn are all hitting comps so is Ian Stewart my guess is he relates closer to Reynolds.

Cubs Fan Perspective: Loved the deal. While not sold on Olt as an elite player I really like Edwards. Not highly touted yet the numbers have been amazing. Tall, lanky kid who could grow into his frame and project as a top of the rotation type. Grimm is still only 24 and could project into a Kyle Lohse control oriented type. If one of the three pans out then the deal would be considered a success.

KRod to Orioles. Fun while it lasted KRod owners he'll likely find a 7th or 8th inning role in Balt. while the Brewers will likely use Henderson in the role. Don't be surprised however if the elect to use Axford upon occasion perhaps to increase value in trade or looking toward 2013.

This must have been directed at Bopp. No question.
