The Carter: Zac becomes Ironton's All-Time scoring king

In the jungle of Ironton hoops history, there is a new Tiger who is wearing the crown. Zac Carter scored 37 points last night in the Conley Center against Spring Valley (WV), and becoming the scoring champ after an encore appearance in Saturday night's game against the Timberwolves, Carter capped off his great performance and became the scoring  king of Ironton High School, when it appeared that a game well in hand and causing the coach play cautious and remove Carter from the floor, so that an outside chance of injury didn't strike his star. Carter persisted on the bench, and convinced a leery Mark LaFon to put him back on the floor so he could do something that Carter stressed to the coach that was very important to him: Getting the record at home.

Carter wanted no part of breaking Dennis Gagai's all-time mark on the road in Chillicothe next week. Carter would break the mark at the free-throw line, hitting six in a row, in front of those home fans and Gagai himself.

Carter now sits atop the list, albeit at a mark that will surely not hold for him, with 1,597 points. The Tigers, as noted, handily defeated SVHS, 84-56.

Carter is under-appreciated as far a recruiting circles go. However, the program that lands the slightly-undersized guard, will be getting one heck of a prospect and talent. Currently, he is sitting on offers from Northern Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, and Akron.
