Boyd's got their man

Former Morehead State Defensive Coordinator John Gilliam has accepted the head coaching position at Boyd County.

Gilliam was looking for work, after leaving MSU after head coach Matt Bullard was relieved of duties at the conclusion of the season. Just days prior, he had actually accepted the defensive coordinator's job at Rowan County.

However, he had a change of heart when BC made the offer, after two former players of his at 'The Head', County coaches Frasure and Meenach made the recruitment pitch. AD David Trimble made the offer, and the rest is history.

Gilliam has said he has long term goals and a direction for the on again, off again program in Cannonsburg.

He's as gitty  as everyone else to get the new stadium built and start roaring.

One has to think that new Taj Mahal on the hill, its amenities and promise for the future is one hell of a recruitment tool.

Gilliam says that when Completed, it will be the standard bearer for area football, and hopefully so will the Lions who play on it.

He will officially be introduced as Head Coach to students and faculty today during an assembly at the school.
