Cards strong, reap sweet reward of a Sugar Bowl victory

As predicted, the 2013 Sugar Bowl ended up being  blow-out.
Nobody ever thought, though, that would be unfortunate for  2 Touchdown favorite, Florida.

Ali > Tebow.
With Muhammad Ali watching on, these Louisville Cardinals also were looking to shock the world.
Coming in un-respected and a 2 TD underdog to the Gators, whom some even thought maybe should've been considered for the National Title Game, Louisville was seemingly over-matched and was about to be embarrassed. However, shock the world, they would indeed.

The first play from scrimmage and Florida QB Jeff Driskel had a pass tipped by his intended receiver, and into the hands of Terell Floyd for a 38 yard pick 6, and Louisville never looked back.

After a 1 yard TD run by Jeremy Wright ( and PAT by John Wallace), The Birds were up 14-0 as the quarter drew to a close.

Florida settled for a field goal in the opening moments of the 2nd Quarter to bring it to 14-3.

Was this the universe coming to a calm? Was this the start of things settling in and taking what should have been a more familiar form?

No. Teddy Bridgewater orchestrated drive after drive , connecting with Devante Parker and Damian Copeland for 15 and 19 yard scores, respectively.

And those came after Teddy took a big hit that knocked his helmet off. He shrugged it off and kept rolling. Bridgewater finished 20/32 with 2 TD's, 266 passing yards and an interception.

Yeah, go ahead and start the "Teddy Bear for Heisman" campaign now...

By the time the 4th Quarter started it was 30-10, then it would be increased by three after a John Wallace field goal.

A flash of greatness would happen soon after for the Gators , though. Andre Debose, who's hands inadvertently tipped the pick six to kick the game off, returned the ensuing kick-off for 100 yards and a score, making it 33-17.
Not even Timmy of Nazareth and Emmit Smith
was enough to help Florida out in NOLA.

Florida would score again, a 5 yard Driskel to Kent Taylor pass, but Driskel would be smothered and covered for a sack on the resulting 2 point conversion, sealing the Gators fate as suffering the largest upset in the hisory of the BCS, 33-23.

The last time this many Louisville faithful traveled to NOLA and the Dome, it didn't end well for them.
However, change the shape of the ball, and nothing could have been sweeter for the Cards than a night in 'Nawlins.(Hey, have to get the digs in when we can, it's a pretty good year for Card fans, unfortunately.)

For now, keeping Charlie Strong(who STILL looks like Virgil) at any cost is looking like a pretty smart move.

Louisville(which you will hear pronounced 850 different and incorrect ways on ESPN in the coming hours) just flat out drummed Florida tonight, and the game was never as close as the 10 point win suggests it was.

Louisville has now won 2 BCS games.
Pressure is on, Stoops.

Hopefully, this will be the last time we have to talk about Louisville's success in any sport, no matter the shape of the ball. I think I've made myself ill....

Unfortunately, the Cards are good on the hardwood this season, too.

Damn it.
