Marshall all but has the needle pointed squarely at their bubble now, if it's not already been popped

The Greatest Player ever, takes in the C-USA game
Wednesday night, and watched is son 'heir' instead of
'err' this time around against the Herd.
Marshall's once promising season that would see them ascend to the top of the C-USA heap and get them a bid into the Big Dance, has all but disappeared.

The Herd traveled to Mickey Mouse country tonight, to take on UCF and the Judas of Huntington, Donnie Jones, for the second match-up between the conference rivals.

However, unlike the game at the Henderson Center, Marcus Jordan, yeah that one, came up big for the Knights when he needed to.

Jordan sank a clutch 3-pointer with under 15 seconds to go, which halted Marshall's 16-4 run, which had cut into a 14 point lead by the Knights, bringing it to only 2 in the final minute of play. Jordan's three was the band-aid UCF needed to escape a monumental collapse in the closing minute, and best the Herd tonight 67-60.

Once more, Marshall waited too long to break out the shovels and dig out of the hole.

During the Herd's run in the waning moments, Damier Pitts went off and lead the charge, connecting on three 3-pointers for the Herd.  Pitts finished with 18 points total, leading Marshall in scoring, and also totaling 7 assists, also good enough to lead his team.

Marshall shot a miserable 39% from the field.

After finally breaking a 4 game losing streak against Tulane on February 1st, Marshall has dropped both outings since that time, to Tulsa on February 4th and UCF tonight. The Herd now stands at a very disappointing and unexpected(for this season) 5-5 in conference play, and 14-10 overall.

The Herd will need to put together an impressive run the remainder of the season, and it would seem they would need at least a conference semi-final performance in the C-USA tournament to keep their fleeting hopes of dancing alive.

Right now, it looks as if they are no longer on the cusp of being in, but looking in from about 20 yards out.
