64/60 Sports Fantasy Spin On The Hot Stove

For my legions of fans my apologies for the extended absence. The Factory has been on a turnaround of sorts as the Drankin and Rankin portion of the offseason has consumed all of the free time. The 64/60 is happy to announce that once again the Bear Creek FP Factory will be soliciting fantasy goodness all season long. From draft prep to combing the waiver wire 6460sports.blogspot.com will be your one stop shop on your way to a league title. Before we analyze the potential fantasy impact of Spring Training let's close the book on the Hot Stove season recapping some of the more impactful moves from a Fantasy Perspective.

* CJ Wilson signs with Angels. Since Wilson has been a starter his ERA is a full run higher at home than on the road. While Anaheim may not be one of the more pitcher friendly parks on the West Coast it feels like Yellowstone compared to Arlington for a pitcher. Look for Wilson to put up very stellar numbers out of the 3rd spot in the rotation.

* Reds acquire Latos for Alonso, Volquez and a host of others. With a career ERA nearly a half a run lower at home some regression for Latos should be expected. Throw in a 41% FB rate in GAB and Latos could lose that Ace status in terms of fantasy. For Yonder Alonso the move gets him everyday AB's albeit in Petco. Volquez could benefit the most. The move gives him a new LEASH with the change of scenery and the pet store sponsored ballpark.

* Nats send host of prospects to A's for Gio Gonzalez. I've never been a big Gio guy yet it's hard to ignore the track record of pitchers moving from the AL to the NL. The A's get 2 potential arms for their rotation this season while Norris could overtake Suzuki behind the plate by seasons end. Brad Peacock seems to be the more intruigining opiton with his solid K/9 rate and excellent control throughout his minor league career.

* Cubs acquire Ian Stewart. It could be my Cubs bias coming through but if anyone could use a change of scenery Stewart would be the guy. Stewart will likely be given more than the 100 AB preview the Rockies have given him recently and the Cubs could be awarded with a 20+ HR option and a good glove. Stewart could simply be a 4A prospect but he will likely be given the majority of the season to figure it out.

* DBacks land Cahill A's keep building toward something. Once again not a Cahill guy but as with Gio the move to the NL is hard to ignore. Parker should compete with fellow rookie Peacock for a immediate rotation spot coming out of camp.

* Yankees send offense to the Emarald City the M's give them a future ace. Montero does trade Yankee Stadium for Safeco but he has bought himself a get out of slump free card. Noesi could be a nice streaming option replacing Pineda in the rotation. Pineda will lose value considering his run and a half ERA Road increase last season. Pineda will return huge dividens but don't expect Rome to be built next season.

* Rangers sign Yu Darvish. All the superlatives being used to describe Yu Darvish have been recycled from Dice-K's arrival. Outside of Ichiro and possibly Nomo most overseas players have failed to meet expectations. Sure Hedeki Matsui was solid but was he really Godzilla like. Fukudome anyone. Kaz Matsui ring a bell. I just don't see Darvish having the build to handle the Texas heat combined with the hitters of the American League.

* Rockies land Marco Scutaro. Likely went under the radar of most baseball fans yet Scutaro's skill set, great contact rate, should play well in Coors. Scutaro won't be a MVP canidate but he does offer solid upside for a late round MI flyer and his stocked certainly increased with the move to a full time role.
