Kentucky in gray, has the orange clad Vols feeling blue

Kentucky came out of the gate like Secretariat tonight in Lexington.

The Cats, donning their new Nike 'platnium' uniforms, absolutely blitzed the Vols tonight at Rupp. Kentucky started off on a tear of 11 minutes without missing from the field. Tennessee's Woolridge did his best to keep it from getting ugly, with his 17 points and 5 three-pointers, but tonight was not the night to mess with Kentucky, handing the Vols a big blue whoopin', 69-44.

That was my Grand Mamma's Purse you took!
It got a little chippy at the beginning, with a little tussle between the two teams, but that was about all the fight Tennessee had in them. Davis got the technical during the fiasco, which was a double technical, but Marques Teague was the one who let the Vols know that it wasn't happening in their house.Folks, this one was never close.

Kentucky was firing on all cylinders and just kept the Vols reeling play after play. Offensively and defensively, the Cats were doing it all. Hustle plays, too.

And dear lord, the blocked shots. Anthony Davis, who is getting the best shots, literally, SEC defenses have to offer, was at it again tonight. Davis quickly let Jarnell Stokes know that this wasn't Knoxville, and it wasn't 2 AM. Davis swatted Stokes as he went up, complete with his futile head-fake attempt, and let the freshman know that tonight was going to be a long night for him and the Vols. Thanks to his long frame.

We are pretty sure Jimmy Dykes was crying somewhere in America when he witnessed that. Grown men, James. Grown. Men.

Davis finished with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 blocked shots.

Terrence Jones has continued to show everybody that he is 'back'. Kid is playing great on both sides of the ball, and seems to be more attuned to the fact that he doesn't have to do everything for this team to win. He has ample amount of help Jones had 11 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and was 5-5 from the line. Folks, Don't call it a comeback.

MKG did what MKG does. That, is whatever it takes to win. He was once again all over the place and everywhere he needed to be, and even places he wasn't supposed to be able to be. He finished with 16 points, 8 boards, 1 block and 2 steals.

As a team, Kentucky had 6 steals. Apparently, that is 6 more than Cal wants to have.

The guard play was probably as good as we have seen out of Kentucky thus far, and both Lamb and Teague finished with 9 points, and between the two, they had only 4 turn-overs. Teague also did what point-guards do, and that is find the open man with the good shot. He finished with 4 assists.

Darius Miller played well off the bench, doing mostly the little things needed, and finished with 4 points, of which included a beautiful put back that also resulted in an 'and one'.

Kentucky hitting this kind of stride in late January is scary for the rest of America. I have a feeling this team likes that kind of 'swagger'... and they are not going to let anybody interrupt it.

However, my dad was seemingly not impressed... Tough crowd...
