If Louisville is Kentucky's 'little brother', then Tennessee has to be their retarded cousin.
Folks everybody knows, that in the grand scheme of things, both teams have to win on a regular basis to be considered rivals. In that sense, Kentucky and Tennessee are anything but rivals on the basketball court. Kentucky has beaten the Vols 147 times, compared to the Vols win mark against the Cats at 66 wins.
On those numbers alone, this game is not really a rivalry at all. When you factor in other benchmarks like National Titles, Final Fours, Tournament Appearances, and even Conference titles, This makes it even less of one. This game is called a 'rivalry', but maybe a better name would be to call it an 'Inconvenience' for Kentucky.
However, nobody likes to lose to Tennessee, no matter how insignificant that appear to be in any given season. But, the Vols have a ways to go still, before they become anything more than a pain in Kentucky's ass. In football though.....
Today, Rupp, Part 2 for 2012. Hate em' like they mean something.

Well put... This is why teams like UT or anyone in the SEC for that matter celebrates a win over Kentucky by storming the floor like its a championship game. Because of the sheer dominance of the SEC by Kentucky. Look at the overall record of the rest of the teams vs. Kentucky, it gets ugly.
