64/60 Baseball Regular Season Awards
A long regular season finally comes to an end this Sunday. The playoffs begin on Monday and a new Champ will be crowned....Before we crown a new champ, it's time to hand out some awards.
BEST TEAM NAME:(best team name)
Runner-Up...........Los Vonderheides
Winner.................Prestige Worldwide- Boats & Ho's!
MOST ACTIVE OWNER:(most transactions)
Runner-Up..............Argumentative 9-Irons
Winner....................Lemaestro 41129'ers- Everett stayed busy keeping up with his team and "shaking things up" in the land of 64/60. Even after presumably falling out of playoff contention in the last couple of weeks, Butchy, has continued to maintain his team. 146 moves is the 4th highest transaction total since 2007 and the highest total of a team that failed to make the playoffs.
KNOCKOUT KING:(12-0 winner in H2H matchup)
Runner-Up/Winner............This is the award for the team(s) that managed a 12-0 H2H victory during the season. A feat that has only been accomplished twice in league history. No one qualified this year.
THE STREAK:(longest season win streak)
Winner...............Hell & Damnation- Currently on a 7 game winning streak and hoping to extend it to 8 with a win over the Ohio River Carp. Ranks in the top 5 in league history among winning streaks but falls well short of the 13 game winning streak of the controversial Immaculate Elitists of last year.
RECORD KILLER/SAVIOR:(highest margin of defeat/victory)
Winner................Argumentative 9-Irons averaged a 6.4 margin of victory over their season in winning efforts. While the Rubber Duckies averaged losing by 6.08 in their losses.
WORST TEAM:(worst team)
Runner-Up.............Rubber Duckies
Winner...................Hendo Colonels- The Colonels remained in the top 3 in the standings for what seemed like 3/4ths of the season. HOW? I have no idea......The Colonels manager seemed to mail it in this year, which when combined with a very untalented team will usually leave you in the standings cellar all year.
DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES:(miraculous turnaround)
Runner-Up...............Hell & Damnation
Winner.....................Ohio River Carp- Roughly about a month ago, I praised the Ohio River Carp and wondered how this team had fallen as low as 11th place in the league standings at points throughout the season. In the blink of an eye, the Carp from the River of Ohio have turned their season around and can clinch a playoff spot and possibly make a playoff run with a win(among other scenarios) over H & D.
DRAFTING DO'S & DONT'S(biggest draft bust & value pick)
Bust.........................Argumentative 9-Irons/Chase Utley(4th overall pick/current Yahoo! rank is 292.)
Value.......................Prestige Worldwide/Carlos Gonzales(120th overall pick/current Yahoo! rank is 3.)
DRUG DEALER(best smack dealer)
Runner-Up...................BC Dingers
Winner.........................Tude Smackers- The man who loves to talk shit sealed the deal with, "MOM, MEATLOAF!!!"
BEST TEAM(best team)
Runner-Up..................Prestige WorldWide- Were consistently average all season until a HUGE breakout in the last month or so./Bear Creek FPF- For a team that struggled unimaginably with pitching(despite a solid staff) for the first couple of months, one can only wonder where the Factory would be in the standings if the offense and pitching had been a lil more consistently in sync.
Winner........................BC Dingers- Wrapped up another/consecutive baseball regular season crown while posting the 2nd highest win total(BC Mulleteers -155 wins in 2009) in league history.
HINDSIGHT IS 20/20(most baffling roster moves)
Runner-Up.....................Tude Smackers
Winner..........................Barboursville Stars- One could dominate a league with the players that the Stars have dropped throughout the season. I suppose it is a testament to his fantasy prowess or stupid luck, either way. A look at the key names that were not good enough for the Stars roster.......(Adam Lind...Jason Kubel...Josh Beckett...Matt Latos...Billy Wagner)
64/60 FANTASY BASEBALL OWNER OF THE YEAR AWARD (NOT TO BE MISTAKEN FOR THE LEAGUE RECOGNIZED OWNER OF THE YEAR AWARD) AWARD:
3. Prestige WorldWide- Todd kept up with his team and capitalized on a very strong/fortunate draft. Cano and Gonzales putting up top 5 player totals combined with Pujols doing his thing will make any team a contender. The effort and smarts still need to be there, though, and Todd has shown both all season.
2. Lemaestro 41129'ers- I personally received phone calls from Butchy on a regular basis all season long. Ev has spent more time fine tuning his team than most of us combined. The effort and willingness to try anything with his roster and just barely make/miss(still to be decided as of this writing) the playoffs is very commendable. The guy is fearless and dedicated, which is something we love to find in a 64/60 owner.
1. BC Dingers- In a season dedicated to the memory of Corey Haim, the Dingers have not disappointed. The Dingers have remained in 1st or 2nd all year, despite season ending injuries midway through the season to 2 of their first 6 picks(Grady Sizemore & Kendry Morales) and a significant amount of time lost from 3rd round pick Victor Martinez. The injuries have hurt and clearly shown in a noticeable statistical dropoff in the 2nd half of the season, but as always, The BC Dingers found a way to get the job done.
Thanks for attending this years event and feel free to add your own awards to the comment section if you got any ideas.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
This was hilarious.
I disagree with the best team name as I thought the Lemaistros were very clever.
Altough I thought, my photo was, certain the most offensive, was fitting to my team name (not personality as I would only smack a female in self defense). I felt I should have been tied for second with the Vonderheides.
Also, you team blows and there is no way you will make the finals, much less win it. 9 irons all the way or, as painful as it is to say, the Beer Crack Fantasy Phone Sex Line Tool and Die will fare quite well.
Jesse
Next season will be my year. And yes Ironton my team name was the best by far! My team continues to get disrespected even in defeat, I have made not of it going into Winter workouts.
^I wrote that, lol
Nice to have you back in the 64/60 Blog pages. I enjoyed the post although I don't agee with all of your award winners the biggest oversight is the Comeback of the Year. Yes the Carp has been on a run but for the sake of Pete, H&D was in 11th or 12th since about week three or four and held stake to that spot when the calender was late July and perhaps early August. The Carp had been bouncing around between 6th place to 10th.
